Bigblock Jtag Help
« on: May 25, 2010, 11:46:00 PM »

Hi,

Fistly thanks to everyone for the great help and advice on these forums.
I have successfully jtagged my jasper 512mb arcade using freeboot 0.32 and everything seems to be working well.  I keep seeing people saying that the MU should be erased with:

nandpro usb/lpt: -e256/512 1001

Is this still recommended?  Is this the best way to achieve this?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

dumping via LPT is highly unreliable. you should get a proper USB flasher.

I am using a maximus 360 NAND flasher to flash my 512 Jasper.  Having said that I used LTP for my 16mb xenon and had no problems as long as my soldering was done right.

I was tring to find out if there is any benifit in erasing the MU, and, if it is recommended is the best way to erase the MU with this command:
nandpro usb: -e256/512 1001

I've always heard it was -e512 1000, since the last block on BB Jaspers is 0xFFF.

All that does is erase the MU storage part of the NAND to make it unrecognizable to the dashboard, so that you don't accident save to it and corrupt the NAND. It will show up as 'Unformatted Storage'
