the blanket / towel trick is not permanent and it's probably one of the stupidest things you could ever do.

EDIT: Also, tekken 6 isn't yet released, so i presume you're using pirated material.

Yeah, it may work.. but it wont work for anymore that a few days to a week and it does no good what so ever to your xbox. What good do you think would come out of heating up EVERYTHING inside the console, cutting off the ventilation.. as overheating is kinda the problem in the first place.

The best thing would have been to just buy the x-clamp fix straight away.. even though that isn't guarenteed permanent.

Although, if you're console is still in warranty, send it to M$. That's by far your best bet. Even if you do have to wait a couple of weeks to get it back.

Yes i know it was stupid to do,but i was a little anxious. Never had 1 problem with my 2 1/2 years old xbox (No warranty) .I used a cooler for the last two years and everything was good, but last few months i put a HDMI connector and the fan couldn`t be installed so i removed it. sad.gif
I will change the clamps next week when they arrive and i hope i didn`t fried anything else inside.

if the fix worked for a while, your console isn't dead, but it wasn't a good fix for sure...

the xclamp fix from llamma is the one I prefer, but I don't prefer to use cheesehead screws. They push up on your gpu/cpu when you close up the system and can cause 2 or 3 red rings again within a month or two. Try to find some kind of button cap screw thats low profile. I found some after a week or two of searching, and they work AMAZINGLY better, plus they look more professional when I got the black ones.

also, to the guy calling the other guy a noob and trying to boost his post count, what do you think you did right there? You only have 15 posts...

lol, the guy i made fun of is the guy i'm trying to help *facepalm*

Thanks ducky, i hope nothing fried in the console after the towels. Will have to wait for the clamp to arrive and for my self to remember how we open the box again.I`m sorry for giving some hate before. Is because i`m sick of "smart" answers. His second answer was useful.

P.S I was talking about the join date. biggrin.gif

The xclamp fix is in no way a permenant fix, once you get the RRoD its just a matter of time before it packs in completely. You can fix the RRoD without having to drill into you motherboard by replacing the conductive paste on the GPU and CPU with some arctic 5 paste, adding some foam support the the back of the xclamps and then over heating the console a couple of time. I got about 2 months extra out of my xbox the first time I did this, with shorter and shorter life spans each time I repeated it. I managed to fix the xbox about 10 time before it finally packed in and game me the E74 error. You can also pick up a preowned june / july arcade model for only £90 which has the new jasper motherboard and doesnt suffer from RRoD..

well, costas, if you live in ohio, i'd be able to help you out if you don't think you'll be able to do it properly on your own...

as for the fix from llamma.com though, I really do like it the most. one of the boxes I've done has lasted since April so far, and my friends, who I'm in the business with, did his about a month ago now...

so seriously look up the llamma xclamp fix... It's worked every time for me so far.
