Any Good Games Like 1944
« on: February 08, 2004, 02:53:00 PM »

Hey, just curious but are there any other games like the 1941, 19xx, 1941 airplane games. I thouroughly enjoy them, but i need to know some other good ones. It does not matter if they are spaceships or what, i just like this genre of games. So if anyone knows any good CPS1 CPS2 and NEOGEO games that fit this criteria, please tell me. Basically i want some good ones that will play in kawax. Thanks in advance. <

Raiden and Raiden 2 are awesome!!

however, i don't believe mame or kawa-x support them, so you'll have to get the iso for "the raiden project" for PSX and run it in pcsxbox (which is what i do)

i don't know of any other great arcade shooters, but here are some great ones available on the various console emulators that are out for the xbox.

gradius - and all of it's sequals
zero wing - for the genesis (that's the game where the phrase "all your base are belong to us" comes from)
sol-feace - for the sega cd (very good)
...

i donno, maybe this isn't the type of list you are looking for, so i'll stop here

i really wish they'd find a way to emulate raiden 2 so i wouldn't have to run it through my psx emu <_<  <

You'd be better off with Final Burn Alpha X if you enjoy shooters like that, Freakycody.  It can play all of the shooters that Kawa-X plays, as well as a few non CPS 1-2 / Neo Geo games, like Do DonPachi, and EspRaDe.

However, if you'd like to simply stick with Kawa-X, I'd recommend the Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters games on the Neo Geo.  On the Capcom side, there's Mars Matrix, GigaWing, and Dimahoo.  Be warned, the Capcom shooters get REDICULOUSLY difficult, to the point where you will die just a stupid amount of times.

I'll also recommend a rather strange "shooter" on the Neo called Twinklestar Sprites.  The best way to describe it is a "competitive shooter."  It has that annoying japanese cuteness to it that drives me insane, but the game IS fun, especially when played against somebody.  You WILL fear the fuzzy onions (play it, and you'll know what I mean. :))  <

mars matrix works fine on kawa-x  :D

since you like the older plane shooters, giver strikers 1945 plus for neogeo a shot

Capcom shooters do get a little tricky sometimes but that's part of their charm. Radiant Silvergun is always worth a go I think it works in mame so it might well work on the xbox. I suspect it would be too slow but give it a go.

I always had a softspot for St. Dragon and Ikari Warriors.
