I really, really need help with this because I can't install the NME v2 chip because the "A" and "I" points on the BenQ DVD Drive as well as the alternative points for this two points are covered in clear epoxy glue or some kind of silicon or something. Can anyone please tell me what to do in order for me to proceed wih my installation. What is the best and easiest method of removing this glue and the safest, as is there a risk of completly damaging my DVD drive? Any advice would be appreciated.

Or simply use your soldering iron. Just be careful to clean the tip before attempting to solder further.

Thanx - Used soldering Iron to get it off- now I just hope the rest of the install is smooth sailing.

And another question - Where in the DVD drive should I place the modchip, are there any preferable spots or any spots i should avoid? And also I'm planning to use the thin copper wires from the inside of telephone wire - to wire the chip, will that be fine? Really would appreciate any suggestions for install as I don't want to mess up.

In the BenQ drive there is a nice little spot at the front that was made for the NME2. There is a path along the right hand side of the drive to run the wiring. I used hot glue to keep the chip in place. Also hot glue is good to keep wiring fixed to the circuit board and takes a lot of the stress off the solder joints.

Alrite I installed everything and connecting everything back up. BUT... - I have a BenQ drive so Im supposed to hold down the power button for 1 sec to turn on the chip and when I do this my original official storebought copy reads on the screen "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console" with a bunch of other languages beneath that. Is it supposed to do this because when I don't hold down the power button for a second the game runs fine. I haven't tested out a burnt copy yet because I need to get DVD's but is that what is supposed to happen with the BenQ drive. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well I finally got the DVD's and an External LG DL DVD burner. I used the NME back creating guide and burned an image after using NME associater on to a Memorex DL DVD+R 8.5 GB and when I put in the drive it would read it for a second and then instead of loading up the game it say "Open Tray"- What the hell is going on? I re-opened up my drive to make sure my install is still in tact and it is and since I have a BenQ drive I did hold down the power button for 1 sec. HELP!

Oh and the placement of the chip is in the top left of the drive, right above that brown lined ribbon.

I just resoldered the many of the points and tried again. Once again when I put in my original and hold down the button it gives me the white screen I described earlier in forum, but the original works when I dont hold down the power button for a second. I tried my back up on the Memorex and when I put it in in spins around for about 8-10 seconds, says reading and makes these clicking sounds that it doesnt make when I put in an original, and finally goes back to "open tray" I have resoldered point A about 6 times so far. Is it the DVD or has anyone gotten the Memorex DVD's to work with the NME2. Will someone please give me some input because this is not working out to well for me.

Alright I just want to clarify something about the way I am burning my games because it seems I have already made a coaster. My problem is revolving around my last three posts in this thread BUT my additional question along with the previous two questions is what do I do with my image to correctly burn if the image is iXtreme compatible, and Steatlh pathched because when I use NME associater to convert this image to NME format it says 'this image is already patched, path anyway?' and if i click yes it does it and in doing so it changes it slightly changes the size of the file. Is that supposed to happen or...? My question can simply be answered with a basic procedure for buring the image I described as well as any thing that is supposed to happen while doing this. And someone please read my last three posts and please help me get my backups up and running as soon as possible.

It could be the media that you are using , mine will not load the memorex DL DVDs, the only ones that i have found to work for me so far are the 3 pack HP DVD+R DL discs, i bought a pack of those same discs in a spindle of 15, and they all were coasters, none of those worked, try to track yourself down some of those HP DVD+R DL discs in the 3 packs, those work great for me, also try the Verbatims, everyone says they work for them, tho i dont use them myself regularly, i do know they work because a friend game me a disc just so i could try and it works fine also, i have tried the memorex ones as well in the past and i could not get a single burn to load up, they all make that clicking noise and never load up, says unplayable disc, its extremely picky as to what media you use, so try another and let me know,
Verbatims or HP DVD+R DL in the 3 packs jewel cases worked, but not the HP DVD+R DL in spindle, those all turned coasters, and the memorex ones that i tried to use also did not work.
it was pretty annoying tryin to get something that works, but keep track of what you do and what you've done, you'll find your winning combination soon enough.
Keep on keepin on

I had the same problem with the epoxy covering the solder points and I tried to use the soldering iron to remove the solder and had a hell of a time.  I tried to solder the uncovered point after removing the epoxy and couldn't get a good connection, and after a while I ended up burning the node and fried the drive.  I highly recommend that you don't use this method, I have done some research and have found that they make stuff to soften and remove the adhesive.  I don't know how effective these products are, but the websites boast that the stuff won't damage the circuit board or computer chips.  Don't be like me and fry your xbox by being a cowboy with your soldering iron.
