No Video - Nme2.0 And Hitachi Drive
« on: March 25, 2008, 07:30:00 AM »

I've lost my video out from the 360, just got one red ring at the moment, since refitting the NME2.0 chip (I refitted it to confirm all the connections). Fitting it on the hitachi is a nightmare with those wires so close together.

I have only wired the required connections at present, and have read in this forum about the incorrect ground point (which I am unable to check at the moment as I am work).

Has anyone experienced the no video one red ring problem? It was working after first install when I did a quick test. My next plan is to take out the chip and wires altogether to go back to a normal config.

Any help greatly appreciated!

the NME mod is a dvd hack of a sort, there is no way possible it will cause a no video issue.  I can cause an E64 (single red light) error if modded incorrectly.  Turn on console if dvd drive disconneted, this will help to tell u if there is a dvd drive issue or not.

If your getting the same error with the drive removed then your MB has the error.  If you connected the network point you can get a single red light with an network error if something happend there

Right...

This was sorted by replacing the X-Clamp using the bolts from B&Q and Artic Silver thermal compound believe it or not!

Removing the chip made no difference to the original fault, nor using a replacement DVD drive!

Well done Microsoft for producing such a crappy piece of hardware, and using a thermal pad and the crappiest heatsink ever!
