Nme V2.0, Hitachi 46d...chip Not Working
« on: April 02, 2008, 01:04:00 PM »

My Pissed-O-Meter just went off the scale.  grr.gif

I tried the chip in one of my other modded boxes and it worked. So that means faulty install….but where? The wiring is done perfectly. Is there anything special about these 46D’s that make them hard or impossible to work with?

Even after installing a new laser, do I still need to adjust the potentiometer?

An idea? Anyone?

I would be wary about the POT adjustment. My problem in the thread you linked to, ended up with a burnt laser(b/c of POT adjustment). I never went below 2.8ohms. Now I'm ordering a new drive(Samsung). I am going to test the chip on my Samsung when I get it and I will post back an update to my previous thread.

there is nothing differnt on 46 drices, only the 0078 and 0079 have incorrect diagrams on NME website.  You did close the jumper on the mod correct?  Check your laser pot you can tweak it but only take it to 3.2

The NME has issues with the hitachi drives, I have soo many problem with there product and hitachi drives.

Post pics of your install

Try to install your NME inside the drive make sure you keep your wire
lenght as short as possible. Another thing if you haven 46d hitachi drive is more then possible that you console was manufacture in 2006.  And if you are average gamer you probably average between 30 minutes to 1 hour of game time every day. So that laser has worked maybe more then half his life time. Try calibrating the laser between 2.4 and 2.6 ohms for best results. I know alot people are not going agree with me but  I fell that old lasers if read the pots with a multimeter the usually read 3.0 and 3.2 ohms. I really dont see any results if calibrate to 2.8 ohms

one problem I see is your mounting the wires on top of the SST, I had a similar issues your having. With the Cover off the mod working flawlessly, once I put that cover on the mod would never boot a backup.

I ran the wires along the side of the SST and booooomm worked perfectly witht he cover on.  There is very little room between the SST and the bottom cover, pressing the wires down and causes excessive noise on the lines.

Did you get the mod from foundmy.com??  Sure looks like the wire kits I sold him   muhaha.gif

Letsmod is right. You going to have alot of problems having your wires like that. Just think  if one of your wires comes loose. + all ground noise you are going to have
