If the mod was bad then my console should have functioned properly when I disconnected the GND and Power wires but left everything else intact. Once I completely removed the mod and cleaned up the install, everything functioned properly. This indicates to me that there was a bridge somewhere. BTW, I did bridge the jumper and install the M wire. I am in the process of reinstalling the chip, I will post back this evening with my results.
actually removing power and ground does not make it like the mod was never there, trust me, I have tried this before on dead mods since there is actual voltage still flowing on bios legs it does partially function. I found this out when trouble shooting the 0078 and 0079 drives before we realized the gnd point for the diagrams are wrong on the official diagrams (only for 0078 and 0079)
Also allot of hitachi drives require you to turn down the laser to 3.0 ESPECIALLY on 0059 drives
I have done allot of NME installs and trouble shooting for people
another issues I have seen is when runing the 30AWG over the top of the SST when you place the bottom cover is comresses the wires and causes excessive noise ont he line, it is best to place the mod ont he bottom of the PCB (laser side) just make sure that your palcement does not interfer witht he laser moving.
typically I put the mod outside the drive right side, looking at console fromt he rear and I run the wires out of the rear right corner (looking at drive from rear) my wires run on the PCB to the opposite side of the epoxy closes to right side
