Any tips or hints are welcome. These are the first Xbox360 that I chip.
Have done about 600 Ps2 and 100+Xbox1 and 60 Wii both Wiikey and D2CKey.
So the soldering is not what I´m afraid of.But....

1: To play backups. Turning the console on with the power button enables the chip (for backups), turning on with the controller or eject button leaves it dormant (for originals).
2: To make backups  http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=635475
3: The quality of the chip looks good. They are an easy install (especially the Benq) and are upgradeable (if the need ever arises).

I am no soldering expert and was suprised at how simple 90% of it was on the Samsung!

But the controller chip for the DVD was in a clear resin, which was tougher than old boots to get through. So we opted for the alternate points for A & I. Scrapping away the board to get at the track and getting enough solder on it to make the wire stay put, without touching anything else took my mate about 15 minutes.

I mounted it externally so that when the programmer becomes available i wouldnt have to take it all apart again. There's plenty of space behind the DVD unit, so i just used lots of wire to connect it.

Works a treat so far! Oh and I am not using Verbatim DVDs. just CMC and RITEK and they work peachy :-)

Hope this helps....

Playing originals online is safe with these chips, as the console won't play originals with the chip enabled. With the chip turned off there's nothing for MS to detect.

Sorry, can't give you an opinion on the burner, never used one. I'm on my 2nd LG and they work well for burning backups.
Sinapore-made Verbatims are the only way to go. I have a few backups on Ritek media, but about half I burnt on them didn't work till I used Verbs.

I used 8 Ritek D01 DL disks and all of them worked fine.

So I bought a 25 pack of CMC media, boy what a mistake! 6 coasters, 360 refuses to like em.

So tried a pack of Verbatims, worked fine.

I'm going to try the Ritek S01 dye next, feedback from SVP from customers state excellent compatibility with 360! They are like £14 for 25, instead of £14 for 10 for Verbies...

not %100 percent true as the chip still has power running through it. a hardware modification is always easier to detect than software

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, do you???

I am an electrical engineer have spent ~10 years as a hobbiest in the mod business, with most of my expertise in the sat business.  I designed hardware mods for satellite receivers when the software modifications were detected.  Some of the chips I invented are still in operation today, while 'soft mods' or 'soft locks' as they are called were defeated years ago.

No one method is 'always' easier to detect than another method.. it is wholly dependent upon the platform you are trying to mod and what security measures that device has incorporated.

Anybody who listens to this donkey IS a donkey . . .

I for one am researching using a hard wired mod chip and not a soft-modded or flashed drive - look at all the 'soft' modded 360's that are now banned off XBOX live...   you CAN'T turn 'off' the soft mod when you go LIVE... you CAN turn 'off' the hard wired mod when you go live by installing a damn dip switch...

The only thing you did point out that is right is that no one should believe this 100% undetectable BS that the NME chip producers are claiming...  do yourself a favor - hard mod or soft mod, don't go on-line with backups - and if you have the option of having a dip switch to turn on or off the hard mod - use it!  Don't trust the automatic features.  Or use the dip switch in addition to any auto features...
