I have an xbox 360 arcade with the hitachi 79fl drive and falcon chip. I've been weighing my options for getting some kind of hacks/backups into the thing. I've done the firmware thing on a couple of my friends boxes so they can play backups of their games, so the firmware route isn't scary to me. However I've been searching and trolling the forums for good solutions and it seems and though soldering is the only answer. I'm not afraid to solder, and I'm not terrible at it, but I haven't done anything as detailed as what I've seen with the hitachi soldering. My intent in this post is to get an understanding of which piece of hardware buys you what, and its ease of use. I want to start a discussion about what each chip can do for a particular modder's needs, and of course satisfy mine as well. And get some incite from someone who has installed one or more of these.
Between the mod chips (and the maximus passkey) What is the most feature rich and easiest to install?
I know the globe 360 has an easy connect chip (looks to be the easier).
I know the NME has wires that need to be soldered to the leads (a la maximus passkey).
I know there are piles of tutorials on the maximus passkey, and the pain of getting all that epoxy off.
I know the infectus has alot of uses and has a pile of wires to install as well.
Has anyone Installed all of these and have opinions of which is the nicest in the long run? Are there Falcon diagrams for all those crazy leads that hit the mobo, or are all the leads labeled the same as the original 360 chipset?
