Topic To Clarify Using Xbox Live And Having A Chip!
« on: November 17, 2007, 05:02:00 AM »

I'm tired of hearing people debating this issue........

You will not get banned or bricked with a modchip if you stay offline with you backups.......
DO NOT ......I STRESS DO NOT...buy into this flash firmware BS....MS will eventually find it and ban you..........
Dude, it's very simple........DO NOT GO ON LIVE WITH YOUR A BACKUP (THE CHIP IS ON)
if you do this...you WILL be banned in time....I dont see all the debate here.....
If you want to go online... reboot the 360 without a game or an original...then do whatever you want online.....go to the arcade download your heart out, play multiplayer....whatever you want......

I have been running with an NME 1.2 for a very long time now.....when I put a back up in my console i disconect the network cable.....play all i want.... when im done, I reboot, put an original in, plug the network cable back in, connect to xbox live and everything is fine (the chip is off now)

But let me stress this again..... I have NEVER gone online with my chip ON for any reason.........not even once......and Ive been fine......

when you reboot and put an original disc in the console the chip is OFF........ If you follow this advice you will be fine!!!! I'm not going to say you will NEVER GET BANNED (who knows what MS will do in the future) but up until this point you will be fine.... All these crazy people that keep saying they got banned, they were playing online with a backup......they talk about stealth this and stealth that....I never bought into that.....the people that were designing this stealth stuff are NOT AS SMART AS MS!!!!!!!!!!!! I never trusted it.......therefore, I put an NME 1.2 in my box and I never play online with my backups my console is fine, and I have eluded the BAN HAMMER....... Hope this helped.....take my advice, I'm telling you from experience...........follow my advice and dont worry.....have fun!!!!!!!

OH, If you want to get banned...go ahead and follow those idiots advice who tell you to flash your firware and go online........IT IS NOT SAFE....AND YOU WILL GET BANNED EVENTUALLY......

Thanks for the advice mate, I am about to stick a modchip in my box but the only thing holding me back is that I like to play on Live... now my question is that every time I turn on my 360 I automatically log into live, it says <mynickname> online... are you recommending that I disconnect the ethernet everytime I have a backup in my box and does the nme 1.2 auto disable when an original is loaded.

Just want to now know what your safety precautions are?

p.s. I am a total noob to 360 modding lol

The first thing I would do is turn off the option that automatically logs you into live(it's in dashboard settings somewhere)....I do think you should disconnect the ethernet cable everytime you play a backup (I do)....just in case......I have some velcro that I picked up at walmart, the stiff side is stuck on the back of my box, the fuzzy side is wraped around my cable, so when i disconnect it i just stick it there on the back of my box, nice and convenient

to explain the other issue the NME1.2 will not play an original if the chip is engaged........so I wouldnt say that the chip is disabled, but it will not even play an original when it is turned on....and the only time it turns itself on is when a backup is booted...I hope that made sense.....Just remember to reboot everytime you go from original to backup or backup to original....If you boot with an original then the chip is off....if you boot with a backup the chip will turn on......

Now you can go from original to backup without rebooting(the chip will come on)....
but you cannot go from backup to original (once the chip is on it stays on until you reboot)
>>>>>>>>>just keep it simple, just reboot when you switch types if you dont you are bound to forget the ethernet cable pluged in
Hope this helps

You would probably be ok with it pluged in as long as you dont go on live, But nobody can say that for sure. The only way to be sure that your xbox cannot communicate with microsoft when you have a backup in there is by unplugging the cable. And I dont trust myself to slip up and forget one day and connect to live.......  Personally, I just dont see the big deal about plugging and unplugging........I mean, I have to walk to the xbox to put the game in or to change games. I have velcro on the plug, and a piece on the back of the xbox...so I just stick it on there...Like I said you would probably be ok..... but I'm paranoid...and I figure that to me, plugging in the cable in not a big deal...... so why risk it?????   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
