- how do i copy an emulator from a disc to my xbox hdd?

I have the right tools already on my xbox as i can copy games to the hdd. But I dont know how to copy a emulator?

Sounds like your bitting off more than you can chew at the moment. This is a good question for the newbie forum, but Ill help.

1. First , the best way to get stuff onto your xbox is ftp. The way it sounds you dont have ftp set up, so I will explain how to do it with a cd-rw or a dvd+-r.

2. Get the emulators you want to put on your xbox and create seperate folders for each one (eg. get surreal64 and put all of its contents into a folder named surreal64). Do this with all your emu's.

3. This step is optional. If you have roms for each respective emulator put them in their respective rom folders with the emulator (eg. xsnes9x has a folder named "roms" you would then put all your snes roms in there, keeping an eye on the size so that it will fit on a 700mb cd-rw or a 4gig dvd-r).

So you would now have the emulators in their own respective folders and the roms that go with them in their folders. (inside the xsnes9x folder you would have all the xsnes9x files (default.xbe, roms etc etc) and you would have all the roms you want in that rom folder(xsnes\roms))

4. Make a folder on your desktop and name it "Emulators" (you can actually name it whatever you want, but this is for simplicities sake)

5. Put all the emulator folders you made in step 2 into the folder "Emulators"

6. Now you have to use one of the programs craxtion or xiso to make an xbox iso of the "Emulators" folder. If you dont know how to do this I'm sure instructions on how to make an xbox iso can be found in the newbie forum. Once you have made your iso and burned it using nero  (or some other burning program) proceed to step 7.

7. Put a program on your xbox like xcommander or boxplorer (or if your using unleashx, you can just use the built in file manager). I will use xcommander in this example- Put your newly created cd into the dvd drive; open xcommander; make a folder on the F: drive (or E:drive if you do not have an upgraded hard drive) named "Emulators", then copy everything on the cd into that folder that you just created.

8. For these emulators to show up in your dash you will have to configure your dash to recognize them so that you can select them from your dashboards menu. Or you can use a file explorer to start them manually by selecting whatever emulator you want to play's default.xbe.

I probably skipped something, but this is fairly straight forward and easy. Good luck. :D

Like I said, ftp is easier. If you can ftp just do everything in steps 2,3,4 and 5 and then just ftp the "Emulators" folder over to your f:\drive (or e:\drive) and then just do step 8.

If you dont have enough room on the cd for your games you can make another xbox iso out of the games and put them in their respective rom folders on the xbox hard drive using the same method as above.
