Any Non-solder 360 Chips?
« on: September 27, 2007, 01:26:00 AM »

Seriously thinking about getting a chip for my 360. Before I even think about it any further are there any no solder chips for it?

Asking because soldering is out of the question. I can't do it and noone I know can do it. So it's no solder or nothing.

Thanks!

Nope, not at the moment and I doubt there will be due to the complexity of the Xbox 360's security.  Its not as easy as the original Xbox was (where there were plenty of non-solder chips!).

There is of course the flashing method, where you flash your dvd drive with a firmware, but honestly I dont like that method because of the numerous problems you might (including me) run into.  Problems range from non-detection of hardware, bad firmware flashes (which bricks your dvd drive!), and many other numerous problems that arise.  Although you hear many success stories, just be prepared, because you might run into problems if you go this route.

Lastly, you could just buy a chip and pay an online retailer to install it for you.  I used to know one, but some have stopped doing it.  Just use google to search for one.

a bad chip install can destroy the hardware for good, a bad flash just requires reflashing (although externally for the hitachi). also, most of the mods are utter garbage and miss half the functions of the flash.
