Im Looking To Buy A Modchip...
« on: September 02, 2007, 12:42:00 AM »

So far from reading around, it looks like the only options I have that suit my needs (ill get to what those are later), is either the NME 1.2, or Xeno-360, im really curious on which I should buy that would fulfill my goals:

I want a modchip that will never get me banned from live when playing an original, or get me banned from live period (i understand that means not trying to play a backup on live). I hear a lot of people get banned using both those modchips even though they never tried to play a backup online. Well, im very forgetful and dont want to have to pull out my LAN cable every single time my modchip is running, i would like the chip to be able to completely stealth itself at all times other than when a backup is placed in, then it auto disable my LAN.

Is there a chip that will do this? (they say they do on the site but I hear complaints otherwise..) Please post your experiences with your modchips (how often you go online with them, etc.) so that I can make a better educated decision. Also after you describe your chip a link to a U.S. distributor would be nice (since lately finding a supplier of NME chips in the USA seems tough...)

Also, will I be able to make backups (of originals or downloaded games) with a Pioneer 112D (yes its DL) or will i have to buy one of those special Kreon Samsung drives?

wont you get banned from live with a flashed firmware ? and what are the advantages of a flashed firmware over a modchip? (i didn't look up flashing at all, just modchips, cuz i alrdy have a chipped Ps1, ps2, and original xbox that all have worked flawlessly).

the xeno-360 gives you the option of powering it on or off with your console (hold eject to power on chip and console, use regular power button to power just console on)

also look into the other NME v1.2 clones, they do the same thing and are only $20!

i personally dont like flashing because of the many difficulties a lot of people have here, with the bricking of drives, bad flashes, non-detection on your pc, and just generally not working for some reason or another.

I'm planning on getting the Elite Version from Amazon. Is there something I should look out for? What are the reviews on the blaster 360?

Flashed fw (ixtreme) is currently the safest option excluding price.  I would not recommend a modchip because your chances of being banned are higher with the current detection methods.

Samsung:
1) old ms25 - flashed with a few onboard sata chipsets.
2) newer ms25 (hardware v4.x-5.x) & all ms28's - pci sata card with via 6421L or 6421A chipset.

Hitachi:
1) 78FK or less - flashed with most onboard sata chipsets.
2) 79 - requires '79 passkey' or similar modchip in order to support fw flashing, not a real "modchip"

BenQ - requires a switch to be soldered between two traces.

Either way, your best option to not get banned is to get another console for online gaming only.  Its probably only a matter of time now before every modded Xbox 360 console gets banned from Live.

Hi LIVE Prophet;

Will I get banned if play on live with my modchip turned off? Assuming that some chip have a switch divice or method, and I am using an original game.(IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
Thank you for your attention.

I dont think you will, but some have said they have.  There are many people that have been fine tho using the Xeno 360, but you must use it properly.  Turn it OFF when you go online, and only use it when you play offline and not signed in to xbox live.

Thank you very much for you answer! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Could you please answer me another question?
Will I get banned if I play a original game on the LIVE on a XBOX with a flashed drive? Is it the drive or the game that microsoft detects?
Thank you again! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Just curious...

I was thinking about chipping mine as well.

But the main reason id want to mod it would be to run backups of my original discs straight from the harddrive..

is this possible yet?

or should i wait.

Its actually sorta both.  An xbox 360 backup, even if you have it stealth patched, is still very different from an Xbox 360 original game, so it is very possible microsoft could check that someway.  Also, a flashed drive is detectable, but the latest iXtreme firmware is the hardest for them to detect.  Either way, you can get banned from both.  Chances are you will get banned even though the game you play online is an original.  Thats why I honestly think using a modchip offline with backups and turning it off when you go online with originals is the best option.  (its been working for many people, including the people I have done installs for.)

No, loading games from the hard drive is not quite possible yet.  Main problem is that the hard drive is external, not internal like the original Xbox (without getting into technical details, just know that it made it much easier because it was internal, and was definitely a reason why MS went with an external hard drive).

There is no current modchip that will allow you to play import/other region games.  I read in one of the topics here (dont remember which forum though) that they are working on other methods of doing so.  Try checking the Software Exploits Forum (click the link).

awww man dat sucks
hope they make one soon
also could you just explain something from the globe 360 v2 specifications

"The Globe 360 version 2 Mod Chip is plug and play, meaning that it does not require extracting the drive-key from the console because the ACTEL CPLD bypasses the Xbox 360 drive-key check, no firmware hack needed!"

^could you please explain that to me
thanks;)
