Help With Nme 1.1
« on: August 20, 2007, 02:45:00 PM »

I just picked up the NME-360 v. 1.1 for Hitachi drives (my friend actually ordered it for me, not knowing it was 1.1 and not 1.2   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ) and i was wondering if there were any good installation guides out there for it. I hate the one that's on the main website of team underdog, it makes no sense to me. Also, will this version even work in a 360 Elite? I have a Pro version too, but i'd prefer to mod my elite.

Oh, one last thing. I did try to do my research b4 i bought, but is NME-360 even a good modchip right now? I've heard many good things about it, but also some bad. I don't mind cutting my losses and buying a new chip if there is something noticeably better out there.

Thanks for the input, sorry if i sound a little noob. I've never modded a 360 b4.

The one on the site is acutally "ok" but there are many DVD drives out there with different firmware versions.  You will need to open your 360 and see what you have before you embark on the install.  1.2 should handle most of the DVD drives out there including Elites IF it's in the list of firmwares supported.

In terms of installations go, this one is pretty hard for those with the Hitachi. I have a somewhat working one and it was a pain to install.  be very patient and know that the installation points on the board are super tiny.  Bottom line is that if you have unsteady hands or are prone to goof up installs, then I'd skip this one or give to someone who can.  Basically what you see on the picture is a row of points you will need to line up wires with to map to your chip.  It's a pain, believe me.  A great magnifying glass with light is your best friend.  A high power microscope or video camera with monitor is even better.

NME is as good as any chip out there.  It's just that paranoia has set in for most people worrying about bans on Live (read up on offline backup playing and banning).  If you don't intend on playing on Live then I personally think that a firmware mod is the equivalent (and probably less stressful) way of modding your DVD drive.  Although I have never done the firmware mod myself.

best of luck...

Since you have the elite, you need the NME v1.2 because chances are you will get the Hitachi 79. Not many people seem to know that it works on the 79s lol I see so many people asking how to flash the 79 when they could just get a chip, install, and be done with it.
