Infectus Chip With 0079fk Drive
« on: June 25, 2007, 10:40:00 AM »

On the "Final user features" section of the Infectus website, under XBox 360, they claim:

DVD DRIVER DUAL FIRMWARE:
Allows to gain total access over the XBOX360 flash driver, so that you can read and write the internal flash of any X360 DVD READER in the market. Support all drivers the last 079 version too. news 16/05/07

From this wording, I assumed that you would solder the chip to the XBox motherboard and it would somehow use the XBox software to flash the DVD drive.

Has anyone actually tried this chip with the 0079fk drive? If so, what is the configuration required to achieve this? Do I solder the Infectus to the XBox motherboard? DVD firmware TSOP?

Does anyone have any supporting documentation on how to perform the read and write of 079 drives using the Infectus chip?

Thank you.

Thanks! If you read that topic to the end, you'd see that it was me answering the question. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Not currently, but I was able to wire it up to my Hitachi firmware chip and read the entire firmware. If you haven't messed up the DVD firmware with flashing, you will be able to retrieve it using Infectus (it just acts as a chip programmer).
