Nme V1.2 Installation E65 Error
« on: June 23, 2007, 04:06:00 PM »

Hi everyone, i was trying to put an nme v1.2 into my friends xbox. I have tried this chip on another xbox and couldnt get it to work, so i figured i would give it a try on a different one.  The first time i turned on the machine everything was ok... granted the modchip wasnt working. I took it apart and changed the ground location to the one next to the capacitor. Then the e65 error popped up.  I removed the mod chip fully using a desoldering wick and everything looks clean, but i am still getting the error.  I made sure the dvd drive was fully closed.  When i boot the system i am not able to use the dvd drive at all and it doesn't make any noise upon booting.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Well I will make a short list of things to look for here.

Check to make sure that:

1-) The SATA & Power cables are plugged in (both to the mobo and DVD drive)
2-) Make sure you have not ruined the 5v point on the DVD board.  This is, from my experience, the most common cause for E65 and probably the cause for DVD trays to not eject any more
3-) Make sure that no other traces are ruined.  Check that the trace to the point "A" is not ruined.
4-) Make sure that there is no solder touching anything.  Like check the SST chip (if you soldered onto the chip and not the traces).
5-) Lastly, try using a meter to check the contuity of the traces you soldered around, which would at least tell you if the traces are good or if you cut one by accident.

Thanks a lot, i'll check all of that tonight...i did do the trace point instead of the A.  Hopefully it is not cut.  I am not sure how the 5v point could be messed up since it is just a circular point but i will get out the voltmeter tonight.

Thanks again, i'll let u know how it goes

Live Prophet do you have any recommendations for fixing a messed up 5V point on the samsung board? I used both the original and alternate... however the problem seemed to occur when i changed the ground point from the original to the alternate... i inspected the ground point and nothing seems to be ruined.. the capacitor doesn't look like it is messed up, and i dont know how it could be
