I know all the arguments. Until the bannings, I would agree. But post-bannings, its a different world.
79FK dumping/flashing is *said* to be coming soon.
The last paragraph I wrote was leading to the fact that nobody really knows what's going on with the bans. Most people who post that they have been banned seem to think they did everything the recommended way. Then later you come to find out that they had played a backup online, played the Halo 3 release online, or worse yet played a non-stealth backup online...
I have yet to use LIVE on my Xbox (1) or Xbox 360, so it's not that important to me. On the other hand, I completely understand the value of LIVE and why people love it. If you want to play on LIVE without being banned, you shouldn't be playing backups online anyway. Play the originals online with standard firmware (which a chip allows you to do).
Regarding the dumping, that's what I meant by "There a
rumors that a team is going to release a hardware mod that will allow flashing of the 79fk series" ... who knows if/when it will come, but that should be nice for the firmware flashers.

The NME1.2 has had SERIOUS flaws mainly on Samsung drives. Go back to the posts from around mid-March 07. You'll see a LOT of people having problems with them. Whether or not NME fixed the problem and released new 1.2s silently, I don't know.
I agree. I think it's a really poor idea to release "broken" product into the market. I'm sure they are doing some sort of quality assurance and should have known that there was an issue. Although removing the 470 coil is a simple fix, the consumer shouldn't have to do it - that's the manufacturers job to make sure the product arrives working.

Currently, I believe the best chips are:
Xeno-360 (For Samsung or Hitachi 78/79) - Easy install. Doesn't require workarounds to get it to work. Only problem is the manual activation of the chip.
NME 1.1 for Hitachi before 78s/Samsung - Best chip in my opinion. Worked fine in all my installs. Auto detection worked great.
My understanding is the Xeno chip doesn't work on the 79fk series. There is a whole thread in this forum dedicated to the topic and the fact that the Xeno doesnt work. Thanks for your input and reasoning on the chips!
