How Does The New Ixtreme Firmware Relate To Modchips

If the new iXtreme firmware "Defeats all current and some future Xbox Live detection attempts",
then obviously the makers of this new firmware know what Microsoft is looking for.

What are they looking for and is there anything modchip owners can do to lessen their chances of detection?

Apart from flashing their drives...
