Nme-1.2 Is 100% Ban Free For Now
« Reply #15 on: May 20, 2007, 09:50:00 AM »

where, I was reading all the post (Including The BIG Closed one!) and yesterday I was playing The Halo Beta with BackUP of Crackdown and NOT BAN yet. Minutes ago, checked my Box for live connection and the BAN HAMMER wiped me!!!

I think M$ was logging info went you play live with backups and eventually rolled the BAN HAMMER slowly I suppose. I think is NOT about firmware check because I never modified mine, I have NME 1.2 Installed. However, the box is loging some info from the backups then send to M$ went connecting to live.

Config.

1. Core with added HD and MEM
2. Samsung 28
3. Played Burnout and HALO beta on live
4. NME 1.2 installed

Eventually, people who play without stealth will caught up.

PS. IDOn"T think M$ is detecting firm or chips

I think that the halo 3 beta  and crackdown helped install something on the xbox and they were logging info before ther dash update and then once someone played a backup on live after that they logged info and now ban o ramma plus the dash update now

Ok for people with NME-1.2 questions i still have both of my machines working. I havent any problems and my Customers havent called me so i guess everything is working. I always make my backups stealth. and burn them with Imgburn.

IM trying to work on a little device to Unbann units not sure if its going to work.

If no one minds, I would like to add some theories to the whole ban issue.

I braced for the worst when I heard that M$ started banning modified consoles, but my NME-360 V1.2-modded console has NOT been hit by the ban as of this morning.  I've been specifically running the Network Tests and constantly trying to go online (play Live Multiplayer) to see if I'd be banned, but so far, so good.

Of course, since XS was totally slammed over the past few days, I never bothered to find this thread saying we may be in the clear for the time being.

However, I read some other threads on how others were getting banned with modchips, so I was unsure of what to think.

Then two things dawned on me: 1. I never placed an original game in my 360 since I got it - I've always used backups, just to see if my burns were working correctly.  The reason I did this is 2. the moment I got this 360, before I even connected it online, I modded it with the NME chip.  I had an unmodded 360 for about 6 months before it died, so when I went out to get a second one, I said, "I'll mod this one from the start."  Lastly, 3. I also make sure I boot my 360 with no disc in the drive, so the chip is supposedly "inactive" at startup.  I didn't do the "network disable" wire, so I'm always connected to the Internet with my 360.

Bear with me and follow my theory, if you can.  Could it be that an updated dashboard could have detected a media change, i.e. knowing the difference between launching a DVD+R DL and a retail, silver disc?  Regardless of whether or not your modchip would still boot, there could be another way that M$ is detecting a difference and noting it in the 360's memory (NVRAM?).  This might explain why non-modded 360s could accidentally be getting the ban because M$ assumed they had to have been using a modchip to play a burned disc.  However, if a 360 was playing burned discs from the start, it "might not know any better" since it wouldn't know how to discern the two.  Modded 360's with a "realizing" dashboard and a mixed library of burned and retail discs could be sending a flag to M$, saying, "Ok, I see he's somehow booting with both burned discs and retail discs, this can't be..." while modded 360's with only burned discs could be saying, "I don't notice anything funny, he's only using one type of discs..."

The only discs I've inserted in my 360 were DVD+R DL for my backed-up games (my original retail discs stay in the case with the manual, all in prestine condition - helps the trade-in value), and CD-R/RW for my music, and retail silver and DVD+/-R for my movies and movie backups.

Lastly, I've been playing online with all my backups successfully, and my purchased Xbox Live! Arcade games as well.

Question?  Did you make all your backups and were they all stealth patched?   This may be why you have been safe.  I've been wondering about the NME as I bought a 1.2 months ago and have yet to install it in my recent replacement unit.  The last one went 3RR on me.

Yes, I use stealth patches on hopefully all my games.  Let's hope I didn't miss one, or that might be the reason my 360 will go belly up when I play a game that I didn't apply one on it.

Hes right you need to patch all your games and make them stealth.

If you Downloaded the games that means that the games are not stealth most of the time. Make your backups. its not that hard
