Xeno-360 Vs Nme-360 V1.2
« on: May 16, 2007, 09:42:00 PM »

Okay, so i am very new at this. The last console i had modded with for the PSone, then i just got into my PC for everyother games. curse those mmo's.

Xeno-360 features...

Hitachi drives 5 wires
one chip for all drives
supported drives: all Samsung MS25 and MS28, all Hitachi 46 - 78
SS required at offset #FC021E (NME-Style)

NME-360 features...
QUOTE
- one chip for all drives: Samsung  ms25 and ms28, Hitachi/LG 46,47,58,59 and 78 (All 78 versions. We have seen many)
- Added logic to support possible future Hitachi/LG versions as well
- 100% Auto detection of Backup or Original
- 100% Auto detection of drive version. No need for jumpers on chip
- optional: Power Led will turn off when a Backup is detected
- optional: disables the network when playing backups
- new improved and very stable media detection, budget media support
- now working with pioneer 111d and Pioneer based burners as well as all LG burners.
- 100% Firmware Stealth, when MS tries to read the Firmware then it replies as 100%  original unmodified. No error code E66.
- optional: 100% Live secure when playing Backups
- Based on 1000s of hours of research and programming
- Manufactured with highest quality Logic, PCB and components. Made in Europe.
- Complies with RoHS directive (lead free). Gold plated solder pads, for easy soldering.

I read a few post about problems with both mod chips. Prophet said Xeno is a clone of NME. My question is,

I believe it was prophet that said if you remove the 470 coil and solder a bridge, you would have to manually turn it on and off. Is that true? If it is, then what is the point of getting the NME which says it auto on/off base on detection.

Does Xeno support the disabling of the network?
How many problems do the Samsung DVD drive actually have with the NME?
What does SS required at offset #FC021E (NME-Style) means?
Is Xeno also undetectable so far by MS?

In my opinion, the Xeno-360 is better because I have yet to read of any chip problems with it, whereas the NME v1.2 has been reported with many problems.

If you get the NME v1.2, there is pretty much a sure chance that you will have to remove the 470 coil and bridge with solder (so if you get the NME v1.2, i would do this step before even opening the 360).  When installing, I would only do the required points, because the optional ones (LED off & network off) seem to be causing many problems with the chip.

As for the Xeno-360, all the features work properly (led and network), and like I said, there have been very little problems reported about it.  The only drawback is you have to power the system on holding the eject button for 5 seconds (big deal, who cares, unless you're lazy).

To make it easy, the SS offset #FC021E, basically means you just burn backups like on www.team-underdog.com

I have a Xeno-360 chip installed which works fine for the past 6 months.

I only go on live with the chip disabled since I only have a Silver account and only use live to download demos.

If the Xeno chip disables the network then how can you play backups on live with it?

If you cannot, I doubt you can get banned for playing originals online, since you don't need the chip on?

Or am I completely missing the point?

To be honest I don't know.

People are saying Microsoft are using 2 things to ban people:
Timing of the drive - which is only a problem for flashed firmware not chips (correct me if I'm wrong)
and whether the box has been booted with the sata cable unplugged,
which also shouldn't be a problem for chips...
yet I read about people with NME chips getting banned...
maybe 'cos the chips where faulty and the network disable didn't work.

I really don't know...

I wish someone who understood this kind of thing would enlighten me  uhh.gif

yes i am still using my xeno-360 but i have yet to go online though, but i will be soon.  Problem is i never took the time to solder the network off point so I would need to open everything again and do that, which is something I will do soon.

i would like to elighten you about the network off feature, but honestly i haven't quite looked into that myself.  i am assuming it makes it safe to play backups online, but im not sure.

It disables the Network. so you *CANT* go online with a backup.
It doesn't make anything safe. Its effectively unplugging the cable, whenever a backup is inserted.

According to the various theories that have any credence, MS has been logging various timings and backup types (Steath vs NonStealth).... chips are vulnerable to both. It sucks... but they are.

So if you have a modded system, as long as you only play original games online you should be fine, right?

Nope. It logs offline and online play. According to the various posts...

I have a new Xbox 360 Elite and was wondering the same thing, which chip to go with the Xeno 360 or NME 360 and what about the Globe 360. Heres some info. (appreciate any help, I believe i have the Hitachi drive)

The Globe 360 is the First Xbox 360 Mod Chip out that is compatible with ALL Dvd Drives currently on the market! If you want to play Homebrew applications, dvd-r, backups and more on your Xbox 360 console then this mod chip is a must have!!

The Globe 360 mod chip is plug and play, meaning that it does not require extracting the drive-key from the console because the ACTEL CPLD bypasses the Xbox 360 drive-key check, no lousy Firmware Hack Needed! It retains all original firmware and there's no need for any firmware-reading or flashing

The Globe 360 Mod Chip is a universal Xbox 360 DVD-Drive firmware upgrader. An upgraded firmware allows for better performance of your DVD drive while reading DVD-R DL support. It features DVD Drive-key "on-the-fly" patching, which automatically boots the "unsigned" firmware on-board!!

Don't worry, for the Xbox 360 Live Fans, this modchip comes with an easy ON/OFF switch which is ran through the Xbox 360 Power button and is easily programmable. It is a no hassle solution!!

I don't understand this fully but...

I guess the stealth checks apply to modchips the same as flashed firmware.

but I thought the timing issue was  because flashed firmware responds to seek requests quicker
than standard firmware so it can be detected.

So is it possible that the modchips which don't change the firmware (like Xeno-360 etc...)
can be detected using this method, since they are essentially using the standard firmware?

I could be talking complete rubbish, hopefully someone will explain...

@Live_prophet

and obviously to clarify, you mean that your console is connected to live while you  play a backup (offline single player type)  sleep.gif

You do not mean that you are using backups online with Live services (like multiplayer requiring live to function), that would be against XS rules of only Originals to play online.
