How Did You Install Nme V1.2 ?
« on: May 09, 2007, 08:23:00 PM »

I am just curious how everyone went about installing there NME-360 v1.2

I have got mine in about mid april and have yet to get it working.

I followed the diagram posted on there webpage under the "how to"

I HAVE NOT removed the coil from the chip. Does it really make a difference ? ... Will it not work otherwise ? ..

They company i purchased the chip from included a resistor inside the envelope with the soldering wires .. but upon installing the chip i could not find any use for this resistor ? ..

If anyone could please let me know how they went about installing there chip and maybe some pictures to guide me along that would be wonderful !

Thanks in advance.

If you follow the diagrams on the Team-Underdog website you shouldn't have any problems.

Make sure you know what DVD Drive you have in your Xbox 360.

If it is samsung, you will not need to install that extra resistor, just follow the diagrams and remember that before you do anything you must solder a small wire from point B on the chip to the point labeled GND on the chip.

If it is hitachi, you will need to solder one side of that extra resistor to the 5v point on the chip, and the other side to the 5v point on the DVD board.  Then just follow install diagrams as shown.

About that 470 coil though, after you install, once you have created a game backup, test to see if the game works.  If it doesn't, then go ahead and remove the 470 coil, and bridge the gap with solder.  Personally, I would just do this first anyway, because I had to do that for the last 3 that I installed.  Also, when you remove the 470 coil, to switch between playing backups and original games you will have to power the Xbox 360 off then on.  (like if you play an original, you will have to turn the system off then on again to be able to play a backup and vise-versa)

Some installation tips: for wire, use an IDE cable, just cut the wires you need from it.  Use a 15 watt soldering iron, with rosin core solder.

Well i have already modded my unit and yes it is a Samsung drive, so i will not need the resistor as you said. But my drive does not work now that i've modded it, it just wont read any discs. I am working my way back words to see what the problem may be.

If i DO NOT remove the coil should it still be able to play original games ? .. does it only effect back ups ? ..

I appreciate the feedback.

Remove the chip. And make sure it still boots originals. If it does your ok.
Fix the chip with the 470coil fix.
Re Install the chip.
I'd also hook up the LED light just to see fi the chip is activating or not.

Test...

First, you should be able to just remove the 5v point and then test (assuming the other wires are soldered properly).

And about that LED feature, I would be weary about connecting that because the 2 times I installed with the LED feature it gave me that problem with the chip not resetting properly.  Problem is the 360 emits about 1-2 volts from the led panel even though it is turned off, which in turn doesn't allow the chip to reset from original mode to backup mode when you power the system off.

You can go here for a full list of all the error codes and there meanings:

http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox-...error-codes.htm

just scroll down a little and they are all there.

As for actually telling if the LEDs are functioning, well if they are coming on I am sure they are working properly.  I guess you could put the LED panel in another xbox 360 and see what happens when powered on, that would tell you if it is working properly or not.  But i doubt that the lights are broken unless you have messed with them.

And you are welcome.  Im just glad I could help, thats why I like to post a lot in these forums.  I know how stressful it is when you dont have a working Xbox 360, mainly because I have been there before.  So, Im just glad to help! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Its not the default colors of the xbox that i need to know.

I was curious to what the NME LED colors are. There is a LED wire for a LED function. When the chip is on what color shows ? ..

I am also trying to help anyone i can on these forums that i can with the knowledge that i have.
