Xeno 360 Major Help
« on: May 04, 2007, 08:26:00 PM »

Hello,

I just received my xeno in the mail and I was looking at the install diagram.  How are you suppose to solder the points so small!?!?!  How did everyone do it here?

Also I have a Hitachi drive.  It says I have to solder 5 wires.  I have my rom version and it says to solder 3 wires, then to close my jumper, but what are the other 2 wires that I have to solder?

Please Help,
Blahness

Well, if you follow the diagrams on www.xeno-360.com you would know what to do.

For whatever rom version you have, follow the diagram for it (the three wires, they go to the SST chip), then you will need to solder the VCC point, the GND point, and point #1 (which is on the motherboard).  #'s 8 and 9 are optional, meaning you dont need them if you dont want them (they are just for the network off feauture and led feature)

Well, if you absolutely cant find out for yourself, I will tell you.

For installing, I used an old IDE cable, I cut the wires off individually, strip them, then twist the end.  Then get you a 15 watt soldering iron, one that has a needle tip or something close to it.  Radioshack has a good one for only $8.

I can't exactly tell you any more than that though.  You cant really tell someone how to solder small wires, you have to show them.  Just pre-solder your wires (called tinning), and place your wire on the exposed trace from the SST chip, and solder it.  Thats all I can say honestly.
