Differences On Loading Messages....
« on: May 03, 2007, 11:33:00 AM »

I have a working NME v1.2 on a Hitachi (PT 2.9). I've read around and have seen plenty of people complaining about the "to play this disc please insert it into a xbox 360 console" message. Now I've had errors before but never that message. The message I get is "Unplayable Disc".

Sometimes I just reboot and the disc works. I've also discovered that if I lay the XBOX horizontally games boot up much better that when it's standing up. I've also come upon releases that I find that don't work at all (extracted the same way, patched the same way, burned the same way on the same media).

Now does anyone know what the actual differences of those two messages mean when it comes to a modded XBOX?

Hmm...I have never seen an "Unplayable Disc" message before, only the classic "Open Tray" and the screen that says "Please insert into an Xbox 360 Console"

I know that the "Please insert......" means that the game was burned properly but the SS file was not patched correctly, although if you use Schtrom 3.2 to extract your games you wont have to worry about that because it extracts the entire game in one go.

"Open Tray" can mean a few things, like maybe low quality media, a bad/low quality burn, scratched disc, or simply it just didn't read it properly to boot up.

I dont think it would be the pot, because I have a hitachi 59 with xeno 360 and mine works fine at 3.00

Yea, it must be the dirty disc issue. Cause it'll take me a few tries to get the game loaded, not very reliable.

Whats weird is the first couple of games or so I burned boots up fine the first try. The ones that I am burning now give me the unplayable disc error. I use the same media (Verbatim), same drive, same computer, same program- everything is done the same way. Still it gives me the error. I think my burner might be getting bad or something.

Probably your burner man.  To date, I have made 11 backups that boot flawlessly.

Every laser is slightly different. I've had some work at 3k (mine) and others I've had to lower to 2.7-ish.

Media matters somewhat as well. Burn speed too.

I've never had an issue with Memorex @ 2.4x.

I know Fuji and Sony work @ 2.4x also.
I have some Verbatim @ 4x.

I'd stay away from unbranded media though...

Yea, that is true.  I have a question though, for you ydgmms, what classifies as a "good" laser to you, in regard to booting backups?  I ask this because even though I tweaked mine to 3.00, then now to 2.9, I still every once in while get the "Open Tray" and a little more than that I sometimes get skipping/slowdown/lag (whatever you want to call it) in my games.  Maybe the games are originally like that?

(And I use Verbatim burned at 2.4x)

Well theres theres only like 2 lasers for 360 drives... sooo one that works? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

As far as those messages, I get them very infrequently. And usually one eject fixes it.
When I notice I get al ot of long loadings, dirty disc, freezing. Its usually one game. I just reburn it, and it fixes it.

So maybe check ur discs for dirt/fingerprints/etc

Yea, thats about what I get too (like an eject and reject fixes it), I was just wondering if that was a laser problem or if that is just the best you can get when dealing with backups.  Technically, they are copies, not originals, so its normal to see some differences.  (btw, my discs are perfect, I take very good care of my games, systems etc. biggrin.gif )
