Hey guys,
Ive modded many systems before and am experienced in soldering and this sort of thing. However, this is my first 360 mod and was wondering...
1. Does hacking the XBOX 360 Rom Drive with firmware hacks needed if I am going to install a modchip on it?
Being an outsider on the base information about the situation, I would assume that the chip has its own code that would manipulate the rom drive's in order to play the backed up DVD + & -r's.
I have a v 1 xbox 360 and the drive is an Hitachi v.0046DH _ GDR-3120L
-I also have an NME-360 v1.2 mod chip that I have already done the "fix" mod to it
http://www.team-underdog.com/home.htmlIm not sure what the "fix" mod actually changes since I havn't installed he chip yet but at least that part is out of the way.
-I know that there is a "fix" mod but on this page that is a contridictory statment about the "fix"
http://www.team-underdog.com/hitachi.html team underdog states:
"The NME-360 v1.2 comes with a small SMD part (coil). This coil is only required for Hitachi 46/47/58/59 DJ drives.
Solder the coil with one side to the 5V point of the chip and to the other side solder the wire which then leads to the 5V point of the DVD drive. Hitachi 78 and Samsung drives drives don't require the additional coil."
Ok, this is kind of adjitating me because of the unproffesionalism involved with this group.
First off, the main page says in order to fix the chip you need to unsolder the current coil on the chip, which has the number (470) on it, and then solder it on the 5V point on the chip.
Secondly, it says on the other hitachi page that the second coil to come in the chip's package, number (220), is suppost to be soldered in the same spot of the (470) coil that I just moved. But only for Hitachi 46/47/58/59 DJ drives.
As you have read before I have a Hitachi v 46 DH drive. I am wondering if they site made a typo with the letters DH and DJ.
2. Is there such a thing as a Hitachi v 46 DJ drive? And if there is, I would assume that I do not need to add the (220) coil.
3. But if I did have to then would I have to place the (470) coil back to its origional spot and break the solder bridge that I made?
-The Hitachi page also states that the drive laser levels need to be adjusted for maximum readability of the Backups. But Again, with the vagueness it does not tell you how to adjust the laser but only check the level of intesity.
4. Does anyone know where I adjust the laser? I know with my gamecube there was a tiny screw that would adjust the laser.
Anyway I know alot of the questions would be hard to answer if you were not already in my shoes before. But please try to do the best that you can and thank you for your help already.
