Add me to the list of people with non working NME 1.2s...

Tried many tutorials for burning backups, tried alternative points to solder to, removed coil, moved coil to 5V, connected points X and Y, disconnected points X and Y, used XBC, schtom, imgburn, clone cd, verbatim disks, WXRipper, Samsung Kreon etc etc etc

NO JOY! Fed up with the NME chip. I mean its not rocket science, 4 wire install, software does all the extraction of images, ss files etc. How can so many people be getting it wrong???? = dodgy chips!

I have just read the procedure for flashing the m28 so I'm going to go down that route. I'd prefer the chip to be honest but if they dont work what choice do I have.

Still trying to get my chip to work and I fould on the team-underdog website that you should put the 470 coil between the power wire and power solder spot on the chip.  I did it but still nothing.

Again, I'm 100% sure on the installation of the chip so it's either my discs or the nme chip.  I've made 5 discs using the correct procedure to the letter, still nothing.  Still looking for someone to check my discs on there working nme 1.2 console so if you could help me, please pm me.  Thanks.

Well, heres a few ideas I have:

Have you tried adjusting the pot calibration on your DVD Drive?
Have you considered getting a new chip?  You may have a dud.
