Same exact situation here:  my mod chip does not appear to work.

nme-360 v1.2 (purchased march 10th 07') on a samsung ts-h943 model  (360 purchased in October of 06')

I'm thoroughly exhausted from all of this.  I've been at this for 5 days now, burning new discs, buying a new burner to make sure it wasn't the discs that are causing the 360 game disc error.  I've moved the ground wires around, removed the 470 coil, and connected the former coils spots with a wire.  It seems like no matter what I do (aside from disconnecting certain wires which only renders the 360 useless) that my 360 acts as it did prior to the chip.  Only difference now is that it doesn't load originals on startup, you have to play them from the menu once you turn on the console.

Still I haven't found a precise guide to creating games.  There's a few but they're not exact, and some steps seem out of order.  I'm probably not going to get any response because I'm downloading my games in xtreme format from newzbin.  Yet I've tried 7 games, each burned in multiple ways, grabbing ss.bin's from sites like http://www.ss.softmo...s.net/index.php, extracting them myself, merging, creating .iso's, renaming files, everything!

I've followed guides and used different burn and creation software from sites like:
http://www.mod-area.com/tutorials.html

http://www.traptrakz.../X360/tutorial/

http://www.homebrewh...g-sh-d162c.html

There seem to be inconsistencies.  Like the nme360_makebackup software from the last link, asks you to name the iso tmpgame.iso when you create it, then later asks you to burn "game.iso".  when do i rename it, prior to moving it from folder to folder, before extracting, or merging the ss.bin.  do i need to copy the software into the folder that the game was created/downloaded to!, or can I copy the iso or .000 file into a software folder.   It seems ridiculous that any of that shit would matter.  Just name the file right and burn it as the directions guide you to?!?!?  right.

Then I should ask which software should I burn with(image burn, dvd decryptor, clonecd), or does it matter as long as you use good verbatim discs at a slow burn speed, with the right kind of burner(I have the LG GSA-E30L).

There are all these proposed solutions, yet I truly think I got a defective chip.

I'm worried if I take the damn thing off the drive my xbox will stop working, like others claim.  Can I purchase a new samsung ts-h943 model on ebay, or will my xbox not recognize it.  I've heard someone say you need to grab numbers or something from the original drive so your 360 will recognize it.

I do not want to give up on this.  Do I buy a drive on ebay and wait for a better chip, do i buy a new chip, do I give up on these backups from newzbin that others from the site claim work, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what worked for me.....follow it exactly
1. Get Schtrom 3.1 from team-underdog site .......put the game into your samsung PC drive flashed with Kreon software in  ...go to the drop down bar next to TASK ..click on extract ss.bin ...it takes about 2 seconds...
2. Then go back to the drop down bar and click on Whole Disc (stealth extreme 3.0). This dumps the game to your PC hard drive. You should get 2 files when done with this process. One with .dvd extention and the other with .000 extention.
3. Next, Run nme associator and click on load and select the iso you just made (its the 7.05 gb file----the .000 extention)..then click ..ss to load the SS.bin file you extracted in step one.
4. Next click the big create button............After it's done you will have converted the img to NME format and is ready to burn
5. Run Imgburn, browse and get to the folder with the files you just made in it. Select the .DVD file this time.....(it's the larger file) burn it very slow....... I burning slow give's you the least chance for errors....I burn at 2x .........After all that hopefully you have a working backup......If you followd these steps correctly and it still doesnt work I would have to say that the problem is probably with the installation of the chip and not the backing up process..............Hope this helps..............Riff

My tools>>>> samsung drive flashed with Kreon to Rip, Pioneer 111d to burn, Schtrom 3.1, NME Associator, and Imgburn, verbatim DL +R  Blank DVD's
My 360 drive>>>>  Samsung
My Modchip>>>>> NME 1.2 with 470 removed and wire put in it's place, two optional points not soldered.(network off and Power LED)

I don't understand when the SS file come into use. From the NME website it says just to NME_associator to convert the image. Is the SS file required?

Yes. You just answered your own question......See step 3.

Its really even easier...

1) Using Schrtom 3.2, select Whole Image(xtreme backup - the main default selecttion)
2) Click Extract.
3) open NME associator, click th e2nd tab (convert)
4) load the iso, click convert - 30s later you have an ISO
5) Burn the ISO(not .dvd) with IMBburn (make sure to set layer break properly in the Settings/Properties section)

Done and done.

The ss isn't required when you select Whole Image (Xtreme Sytle). It puts the SS,PFI,DMI,GAME.ISO,VIDEO.ISO all together.
NME associator (convert tab) will convert the ISO to NME. You do not need to extract the SS.bin.

as far as your chip problem....

Ah, understood. Thanks for clearing that up.

One thing I found out about last night that I didn't know is that the DVD+R DL book type needs to be changed (to DVD-ROM) by the DVD writer in order for the 360 DVD drive to read it. I can't go into details since I just found out about it. That may be an issue.

Ok, I have to ask this to you "ydgmms".

I understand everything except steps 4 & 5.  First, the nme associator doesnt convert it to an ISO for me, its still the IMAGE.000 and second, I cant burn the IMAGE.000 with IMG Burn b/c it wont let me and tells me to burn the .DVD file, NOT the IMAGE.000

So what gives?  Why does riffman2525 say to burn the .DVD file?  Does it not matter which you choose?

Ok, I was just wondering about that.  So long as I can get a working backup, I can accept that.

Anyway, as far as my DVD Burner goes, I had updated the firmware of my Pioneer 111D with the Dangerous Brothers firmware.  Was this a bad thing?  I dont think that I can go back to the original 1.29 b/c when I try an error occurs.  I just dont want to ruin the quality of the burner.

Also, I would like to say that I have not completely grasped the idea of the Dangerous Brothers firmwares...mainly b/c I havent read up on them.  I wonder, do these just patch the existing firmware or replace it entirely?  If it just patches, then I dont have anything to worry about it ruining the quality.

I know it's besides the point but why did u even flash it with that "Dangerous Brothers firmware"? what is that supost to do????? I just flashed my pioneer 111d with the updated firmware from the pioneer site and it works fine.........Im sure it would have worked fine even if i wouldnt have done that........

thanks guys

For all I know my Samsung drive won't even work with the chip.   NME-360's site says the following

Features of the latest NME v1.2 Chip:

- one chip for all drives: Samsung  ms25 and ms28, Hitachi/LG 46,47,58,59 and 78 (All 78 versions. We have seen many)

________________________________________________________________________________
(so does this mean it only works on the ms25 and the ms28?, for it then says the following):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q:Will NME360 work with my drive?
A:Yes! If you have Hitachi/LG or Toshiba/Samsung drive

by the way i tried ydgmms advice, with a newzbin post i found and it didn't work.. maybe it's time to get one of those samsung dvd drives that allow u to make backups

Alright,

Well I have been going in circles trying to figure this out.  I have followed your procedure to the letter riffman and still no luck.  I read somewhere that the new batch of chips are getting a current from the led wire when they shouldn't so the chips aren't turning on.  Just to check that out, I disconnected the LED activity wire but that didn't help.  I'm starting to question my drives even though they should work.  Half of the time when I use schtrom, I can not create a ss.bin file.  I then restart my computer and the drive can find the ss.bin file.  Something obviously isn't working right there.  I have the samsung drive with Kreon flashed so I should be ok.  I would really like to test my discs in someone elses working post january nme 1.2 console with samsung ms28 drive.  Please PM me if you would be willing to test them for me.  I can hand deliver them if you live in southeast wisconsin or else I'll gladly pay for shipping both ways.  I just want to figure out if it's the discs or the chip/console.

Ydgmms>>>>>>>>>>>>About step 5)   I have done everything you said exactly........I guess it doesnt matter but I still cannot get IMGBURN to burn the ISO........ when I select the ISO it brings up a message......."You have selected the wrong file, you should have selected the .dvd file. I will do it for you this time but dont let it happen again",,,,then it automatically loads the .dvd file....and it shows that it is 7 gigs or whatever, then I can burn.......it works so it's not like im worried about it....but I still cant burn the ISO.

hmm i dunno. mine never tells me anything about it. but the DVD file is fine. If you open it in notepad you'llsee twolines. one line will have the ISO file to be burned (or .000 or .whatever). the other line will say LayerBreak=1913760.

I do those manually... its not biggie.   You know what it is? Its the latest version of IMGburn. I've been using an older version, decided to upgrade right now to see if that was what it was doing. And sure enough, I try to load an ISO and it tells me to load the DVD. So yeah... I was just using an older version.

hey DKuJo97,

I'm in Chicago,  If I get things going I'd be more than happy to help, or we could mail each other our attempted backups to test them.  I found someone on craigslist who I think will be able to help me out here.  I'm going to buy a multimeter to check test points, and if everything seems to be fine I'm just going to remove the chip and flash the drive (if that's still possible.  I'm kindof scared that once I remove the chip the drive will stop working.

At this point I sincerely doubt after all the discs I've made, that not one was done correctly, or burned right.

I've been finding verified backups on a newz forum, renaming them to game.iso, finding ss.bin's for them, or using the ones that came with em, using NMEassociator, burning w ImgBurn and still no luck.

I'm really at the point where I think I'm better off just spending this money on traveling and concerts.  fucking video games

just stop posting. you're openly admitting to piracy.... and i don't wanna get banned for helping ..

I officially quit.  I just desoldered the NME-360 and hit it with a hammer, my 360 is back to normal and now I intent to flash the drive.

what a waste of time and effort.  I see no reason now why anyone would even consider buying a chip when you can pay someone to flash it for you, for the same price, w/o the risk of damaging the dvd rom drive

what a joke!

don't be suckered into thinking it's some cake process like I was.  soldering isn't so bad, but when these chips are duds part of the time, there's no guarantee
