Nme V1.2 Can't Play Originals
« on: February 27, 2007, 02:14:00 PM »

heeeeep!!!! Can someone please help me, just got the nme v1.2 installed but can't get a single original game to play and get "to play this disc you need to put it in a 360" message. It plays DVDs and backups fine. I have a Samsung ms25 drive. I think I have tried the cold boot method(powering with the power button instead of controller). Is there something i'm missing? I have the A, I, +5v, X, GND, B(GND and B short on nme chip) soldered. Seems like the nme is not turning off and always in backup mode. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

have you tried cold booting with an original inside the drive?

Sometimes you have to turn the xbox off, then back on in order for the chip to turn off. (So I've read - i never had a problem)

I got mine installed today and when I insert an original game after playing a backup, I get the same message until I shut the system off and reboot. Shutting the console by holding the XBOX butten on the controller. I also setup my system to boot into "disc" mode instead of xbox live mode.  After rebooting the system the original works until I insert a backup and have to repeat the process.

well i uninstalled the nme and originals play fine, then put the nme back and still cant play originals. i tried changing startup to disc mode instead of dashboard and still no luck. i'm thinking of adding a switch to the +5v pin to turn on/off the nme since it's not detecting originals and seems to be in backup mode all the time.

well to update my problems, i had to jerry rig a switch to the 5V and now i can play both originals and modded games with the flip of the switch. seems that the nme was always on regradless of original or backup.

I am having the same issue.  It is rather disappointing since the chip is supposed to do that on the fly.  Hopefully the proper resolution won't require a chip exchange.

I am having the same issue, I am installing a switch also until I can fig'r out how to get a new chip. Do you turn your chip off/on while the 360 is on or do you power down every time you switch?

well i removed the hideous switch and used turbospud's method of removing the 470 coil on the nme chip and shorting it. now it works like a charm.
