Currently, I think NME-360 v1.2 is the best mochip around for the xbox 360 as it allows you to play backups and cannot be detected on xbox live.
Installation is a pain but not too daunting and requires alot patience.

However if you are not interested in playing backups on your xbox 360 and want to run homebrew apps/game etc then I suggest you wait a good few months.

hi chaps

new on here as well looking for the same info

can u switch the modchip on and off? when MS find a way to recognise the chip on Live are u then in a case where u either get a new one or not go on Live?

Thnx

I have the NME 1.2 and there is no physical switch but there is an optionaly point you solder for network connectivity. If you play a backup the chip will recognize it and disable network functionality and ofcourse your box will not connect to LIVE. When you play the real game its just like as if you never had a chip since it will go into sleep mode. Me personally didnt hook up this optional point since the point has to be soldered from your Chip to the motherboard and removal of the dvd drive in the future will be hard. However I plan to use an old connection adaptor that came with the old Xenium chip to have the optional Activity LED and the Optional network point removable so I can just solder two wires to a female side of the adaptor to the chip and have the 2 wires come from the male harness. Already have the female adaptor soldered .. just need some time to do the two wires on the mobo. Aint too worried about it now since I dont play my backups on LIVE.

Correct me if Im wrong....
If the chip enables itself upon inserting a backup and then turns itself off when u play an original, then as long as you keep an original game into your xbox dvd drive when connecting to xbox live, there is no way M$ can detect it.

M$ can only detect if the console has been modded when you connect to xbox live if either a backup is inserted upon establishing a connection to live or either by a modifided dvd drive firmware, (since they automatically install updates).
Now, if the chip is disabled and an original game is in your drive when you are connected to xbox live, then there should be no way M$ can detect the chip as the firmware remains the same?

they can't detect it unless they check via an updated kernel which is the most likely way they do a counter atack like they did last time. Saying it's 100% safe is simply not true.

I still prefer the NME1.2 easier to install, and also has an OFF feature. and yes, when the chip is off, there is no trace or record of it, just what you need  ph34r.gif

Thank you everyone for the help! But I have a few more questions: 1) Can the NME 1.2 and Globe 360 run home brew apps? 2) What are the connectivity kits for? 3) What are the USB drives that Team Xecuter make used for, also if they're useful should I get the Blaster 360 that they make? Thank you for all the help it is mush appreciated.

Does anyone know how the Fractal 360 chip performs? Is it better or worse than Globe 360?

ok so i just read that a the xbox360 USB is for flashing your firmware? is that true? also i am told that flahing your firmware is the only mod for the xbox 360 out right now and you can only play backups of games, u cant run homebrew apps yet, is that also true? and if i were 2 flash my 360 WITHOUT the modchips would it still be as safe with a modchip? ok tyvm every1 4 ur help on this matter.

       Thank you,
             CrossEel

hey CrossEel

xbox360 usb is a connectivity device to connect your drive to the computer via USB.

Flashing your firmware is a way to mod you box, but not the only one; modchip are also available.

Ii IS true that we cannot run homebrew apps yet, because of the fact that we are modifying the DVD drive... not the  system BIOS or the HardDrive.

also... you should either flash the DVD drive firmware or install a modchip, not both. And they do exactly the same... allowing the drive to read backed up (burned) games.
The difference is... that with a modchip, you can turn it off or disable it. However with the flashing, the original firmware is erased, a new one is installed and is always there...

hope that helps!

it seems that the fractal360 is a clone of global360.. so it "should" be the same.

I don't really understand the whole thing about mod chips, so could someone please explain this to me? I was also wondering if I should get a mod chip now or wait until my warratty is expired? Also what is the best mod chip out right now if I should get a mod chip? Please do not flame me for this post since I am new to modding.

     Thank You,

Dont get confused with xbox 1 mods and 360 mods, completely different scenario (at the moment at least)
no mobo mod exists for the 360 (yet) meaning no homebrew. The mods available are fir the dvd drives, and pretty much used for 1 thing, playing your backups.
At the moment, the nme is probably the best bet

Actually, the xbox360 is completely different to the xbox for another reason (aside from the obvious ones of course)
thats that the hard drive is ONLY a storage device, the 360 can boot without it (xbox 1 couldnt boot without a hdd) , meaning you cant and wont be able to mod a hard drive like you could on the xbox 1. So if mods become available for the 360 to run homebrew, you wont simply be able to load evox etc to the hdd and boot the 360 to the evox dash, it just wont work that way.

To be honest, wiring that many wires, and cutting into your dvd drive pcb, is a pretty bad idea I think, thats why I would go with the nme

If you're going to be backing up your games, do the firmware hack. Modchips are more hassle, and you can't upgrade the hack nearly as easily as a flash. And you're lying to yourself if you think an auto-off modchip will protect you from any banning M$ chooses to start.
Is this person right i mean currently modchips only adds 2 features; better way to backup games and the switching off feature.
