xbmc v 360, is exactly what I'm waiting on!
oh, and my kids scratch too many discs to even bother with a console until you can play games right off the hard drive.  Won't buy one, till it is wide open!

i personally wont get a 360 till they create a modchip for it, but if you remember on the front page they had an article about some guy who explains the xbox secuirty and he said there would be some kind of update on the security of 360 on the 28th, so if your looking for information thats what your waiting for.

an extreamly good vid that first one.
it was shocking how many flaws there were with the secuirty on the original xbox consol.
the chap doing the presentation did make a brief comment on the 360 security being considerable tighter than the xbox. but when you watch the presentation you sort of understand exactly how difficult it is to make something secure.

with so many different things happeneing within the systems its not hard to see how backdoors can be found...
the challange is to find em.

looking forward to the next presentation.

well im sure if they figured out even a minor security hack something would've been posted in the x-s news. I know theyre working on it right now, but from what ive been seeing the only development going on is for dvd firmware. I just wish xecuter would just tell us what theyre currently working on. Theyre kinda mysterious. I dont know who they are, except theyre somewhere in asia, far far away from me. It'd be cool to get some more pictures of modchips in production. I forget which team did that before, but i thought it was interesting.

The problem in creating a modchip with the xbox360 is that we are trying to please the people that use xbox live, everytime we think we are close to hacking it they release an update to stop it from doing what we want it to do (like the latest update with the embeded kernel to detect firmware hacks).
Only way that I can see being hacked properly is if we stop worrying about xbox live like we did with the original xbox where we gave them a choice that if they wanted to play online don't mod your xbox and if you didn't care for it mod it and enjoy the homebrews and other goodies that we have with this great machine; only then we can actually enjoy the true potential of this 360. but we must make a choice of what it is important.

As far as I can see guys he is right either mod or live and with live you get all those need updates lol  love.gif
That we love so much with HD 1080p and backwards comp but really guys this unit is pretty dam tough to crack not saying it won’t be cracked but you have a lot of factors that come into play
and knowing good old Gates he is waiting on the right time to give us that back door " when Ps3 finally kicks off that’s if they ever do but as far as this flaming goes why don’t the guys that flame start to do some decoding and let us know of your progress as far as Team X goes they are doing all that they can to get a move on this chip and frankly I would not be surprised if they decide not to produce a chip because of all the work that goes into finding that right mod for the 360 lol i guess it is time for Team X to move over to the PS3 side of the world lol

Im not sure how others feel about it, but heres my opinion.

To the teams presented with the above problem, do with the 360 as you did with the normal xbox.  Forget live for now, and just put a switch on the chip to somewhat please both audiences.  Those who play on live and those who dont.  If the focus for live stops developers can at least get things like new xbmc's working and other great HD goodies rolling.

That way progress can be made without having to worry about a new security updates every week...and Im sure the teams working on things have talked about this idea.  Kudos to the teams that are working on things!

Dude its been a year.. I opened this thread in the hope some guy would come along and say.. Hey if got answers for you.. come and sit on my knee and ill tell you all about it. They give me a 360 chip at the end of it!

its impatient and ungrateful people like yourself who ruin the scene for everyone and eat away at the motivation that drives the great hackers who do these wonderful things for all of us...  muhaha.gif
