I am planning on buying a xbox360 pro and install a modchip on it.  It seems Fractal360 team is taking forever to release their modchip and NME will release a new v1.2 of their modchip soon.  I was wondering if new xbox360 comes with a Samsung drive or if there is a way to look at a date from the box before buying it and be able to tell which drive it comes with.  Which drives are available in the U.S. so far?  Is the Hitachi 78 in the U.S. or that is only in Europe at the moment?
Thanks.

I have a NME v1.1 and so far so good.  all 15 backups works.  no problems on live.

I didn't want to mess with the firmware.

read the threads to get better informed then decide.  some people will say flashing is easier, cheaper and so on.

Sorry....but installing a modchip is still messing with the firmware....and so far no one (even us flashers) haven't had any issues playing online.  A chip will not protect you any more online with backups than it if you flashed your firmware.  Not to mention any updates requires a chip programmer for your PC, as opposed to the many free updates available to us the same way we flashed at first.
