If you wish to help please take time in reading thisFirst of all i would like to say that i have read many posts in this forum about the progress everyone has had with the nme-360 chips.
However, even with everyones help i am still struggling to create backups for my 360 games.
The setup i am using right now is:
NME-360 1.1 on a Samsung xbox drive purchased from
http://www.kangamail.com/ (they are listed in the team-underdog's official distributors)
DVD drive: Samsung SH-D162C with Kreon 0.81 FW
DVD recorder: Samsung SH-W162C with FW 10
Media i have tried has been DVD+R DL Ritek and Ricoh (cant get my hands on verbatims unless i ebay)
I have installed the modchip and have checked several times if my solder points are good. I used both alternative points as it was easier for me to solder.
The game i tested my back up process was Need For Speed Most Wanted
The backup process i used is straight from the team-underdog website.1) Flash SAMSUNG SH-D162C hacked Firmware:
- make sure there is no CD/DVD inside of the drive!!!
- start (doubleclick) sfdnwin.exe
- select drive from pulldownmenu: TSSTcorpDVD-ROM SH-D162CTS04
- at the top left click "DOWNLOAD FILE OPEN"
- select file: SH-D162C_TS04_XB360_KREON_V080.bin
- at the top left click "START DOWNLOAD" (button in the middle)
after successfully flashing the drive you will receive the message: "DOWNLOAD OK!! RESTART WINDOWS."
Now reboot your pc. You can now use the drive for making legal Xbox-360 Backups.
2) create iso from an original game:
Start the Xbox Backup Creator
From the driveslist select the SH-D162C drive
In Options you can select the SH-D162C dive under "Drive Specific" for optimal performance
Insert XBox-360 game into the SH-D162C drive
Go back to READ and hit START
Select the destination folder and enter a name for your ISO.
Reading the complete game takes less than 10 minutes.
Backup maker creates your named ISO File and a .dvd file with the same name as your .ISO-File.
3) Extract Security Sector
Still in XBox Backup Maker go to DRIVE TOOLS
Hit SECURITY SECTOR
Enter destination folder and name for Security Sector (preferably same folder where you saved the ISO)
Click SAVE
4) make ISO compatible to the NME-360 chip:
Start the NME aSSociat0r.
Select the ISO File
Select the SS File
Hit "CREATE" button
Your ISO is now being patched. this takes just 2 seconds.
After patching it must be exactly 7.705.657.344 Bytes of size. (in KB it is 7.525.056)
all of the above steps were successful and my final ISO file was exactly 7.705.657.344 Bytes Now the problem appeared when i tried to burn the ISO using CloneCDI recieved this message
Image doesn't fit on destination Disc!
Space availalbe: 7222 MBytes (53:42:26 Min:Sec:Fra)
Space required: 4482 MBytes (254:1:29 Min:Sec:Fra)
Please select how to proceed?
1: Try to overburn.
2: Write until the End of the Media is reached.
i decided not to burn the ISO because it was obvious id make a coaster and face it DVD R DLs arnt cheap. I read the additional information on the Team underdog site and decided to attempt my ISO burn using IMGBurn. Its quite a nifty program, and i followed the instructions on the website to change my book type. However i could not change the book type of DVD+R DL on my samsung drive from DVD-ROM to DVD+R DL. the option wasnt there.

anyways i burned the image and as i thought, it didnt work. When inserted in the xbox360 i recieved the "please insert into an xbox360 console" i entered the DVD into a DVD player and saw the same message. My home theater dvd player is quite old so it shouldnt be able to read DVD+R DL book types, which means the game backup was probably burned to a DVD-ROM booktype.
From here on i read forums and what not for several hours trying to see what i can find out. Apparently my DVD burner has a feature that automatically forces DVD-ROM book types to all the media it burns simply so that old home theater dvd players can read the media. I found a website that explained this and said that this was only included into the latest firmware - FW10.
So, today i rolled back my DVD writer firmware to FW00. Restarted the pc and everything... Tried the IMGBurn program again, and still same thing, i cant force it to burn the DVD+R DL book type.
However i used Nero 7 and managed to change the book type setting of my DVD recorder from "DVD-ROM" to "Physical disc type"

I burned the ISO but no luck again.. another failed backup.
Last thing i tried was another CloneCD image burn. This time with the old firmware which apparently doesnt force DVD-ROM book types. This time i did not recieve a message which "image doesnt fit etc." and the disc started burning. But no luck again.
All 3 packups gave me the same message when put into the xbox360 "please insert disc in an xbox360 console" and the same when put into a home theater dvd player.
Last thing which i wanted to check, was whether nero 7 "CD DVD Speed" utility recognised the discs book type. And to my surprise all of em showed as DVD+R DL booktype which in theory should not even play on a old home theater dvd player.

Thanks in advance for your help. I know i may have given too much information, but i didnt want to miss any step or process i have used in attempts to back up my xb360 games.
