well.. when installing the globe 360, u DO have to cut a trace, so without the chip there, and with a tracing missing to the Controller of your dvdrom, there lies your answer

wow never thought about just using some solder. i tried to do with a wire. the trace is real small. plus board coated so it hard to solder. i can scrape coating off but its risky. people who installed will fix for 27 plus shipping. its really hard to see where trace even cut.

try using rubbing alcohol instead of scraping it off.
