Using Xbox360 Modchip Or Update With Xtreme Firmware Ver 3.0
« on: August 19, 2006, 09:09:00 PM »

I am also curious to know this.

Im aware that Xtreme3.0 allows the extraction of PFI and DMI (or whatever they are called), but im also aware that (like SS's), they can be downloaded from the internet or given to you from people to merge with the ISO (like you would the SS).

So what would the main negative (not counting price) be when comparing the latest "modchips" and xtreme3.0 firmware?

Dual fimrware chips are useless. They will also be left out on new improvents since they aren't easily updatable (like the new stealth media/firmware and the new media patch). Also I think the xbox live/retail firmware thing they advertise with only creates false hope. It guarantees nothing

I have a Globe 360 chip and the SST memory chip is socketed so it can be updated with the latest improvements. In fact I have already updated the firmware to Globe 360 Firmware with Xtreme v3.0 Toshiba-Samsung H943 and Xtreme v2.1 Hitachi-LG 059.

Also using the chip means I will never have to flash my drive and possibly brick it. As I look around these forums I see tons of people who have bricked their drives. I feel very sorry for them and take great comfort that this will not happen to me.

So the chips do serve a purpose and later versions will open up even more options. biggrin.gif

Most people are bricking their drives because they don't read things correctly or make stupid mistakes like not backing up their original firmware and not checking they have a valid copy. Occasionally someone may have a power outage during the flash etc. but rarely. I don't see the point of firmware chips they are over priced and not required. Keep your money for a real chip...  blink.gif
