The Globe 360 Mod Chip Ships In 24 Hrs
« on: July 31, 2006, 07:32:00 PM »

I'm just relaying the info. I just ordered mine at Divineo and it says it will ship in 24 hrs. User doesn't need to extract his drive-key or need special sata flashing chips and all that crap its just plug and play. well after alot of soldering of coarse.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

ok, we will be carrying maybe a limited stock of the Globe360 as well, but the problem as we hear it, is that you can't just solder it in and use it, you need to flash it first.  but how does a customer flash it?  no one has told us yet.

i soldered one in last night into a hitachi,

1st off the ps2's are 1000x easier, if you dont have the right tools or are inexperienced dont try it, at least the hitachi,

anyways,

im kinda thinkin it may have to be flashed, i installed it , checked all points with a multimeter, al tested fine,

now when i turn on the xbox with the power button it turns on, chip turns on as well, from the led, but the dvd wont eject,

when i power on with the eject button, no mod, no led, it ejects. (havent tested any games yet but will later)

any ideas? or do u think it may be because the chip needs to be flashed?

Thx

Well if it's just using a sst chip for the firmware storage, I imagine you pop the sst chip out of an alladin modchip for the XBox 1, and use an xbox or an alladin programmer to flash it, it might not be that hard.

Now, soldering the chip in, forget it.  lol.

can you use the connectivity kit and flash it within a PC?

I just finished the soldering session on my Globe360.
Now, for everyone in here asking if the flash on the modchip is empty or not: it HAS a firmware on it.

And what is your verdict on the install?  And.....  does it work great? smile.gif

Hey guys. I installed a Globe-360 today on my Samsung drive. Im a prof. ps2 chip installer and I would compare the install to the older v1-v3 PS2s. Took me about 1.5-2 hours to install, mainly because I had to burn away so much of the epoxy that holds the SST chip down just to get to some of the points. I would say the install is more tedious than difficult but definitely not for the beginner.

Once installed though I was very impressed, and yes the chip is already flashed with a firmware. I had installed an NME chip previously and attempted several times to burn a working NME patched backup with no luck. The Globe-360 however booted every backup that I had burned. Booted FujiFilm and Ritek media burned w/ NEC burner.

Heres a picture of the install:

Here's web site with some high def pics. I'm going to say it was a difficult install with way to many wires. I just put it in tonight but I don't have a backup to test it yet. And yes you can play live. If your using original game the chip is off and undetectable.

The install wasn't very easy i must admit...  And yes, it works as expected.
BTW, it doesn't have the Hitachi-LG media timeout fix.
