It's not even worth the debate. I wouldn't call it BS, I mean it's barely a statement anyway, more like worthless babble.
On the flip side, I remember when screenies of the first build of evo-x got posted, everyone said that was BS too.

Just think about this idea for a minute:

If you were a console manufacturer you would want to 'financially hurt' your competitors as part of healthy competition yes?

And since we all agree that the 'net effect' of mod chips is adverse to the console manufacturer yes?

And since the companies with the best, most advanced equipment, and the most funds, are the console manufacturers, then:

I have always thought that Sony and Nintendo designed (or were assisting in the design) of Xbox mod chips. And that MS design PS2 chips.

Would this make sense?!

Or have I by myself on this one for the past 3 years :-p

I'm sure info has been leaked before. Same as Sony possibly paying for anti-x360 publicity. All speculation but fun to think about none the less.

Sure, this report may indeed be fake, know one really knows. But I highly doubt that a chip is going to be developed in a public xbox forum. Wait a minute...

Even if someone create a Chip, what will you put on? I mean, did someone coded a new bios, or did someone just cracked the original X360 bios? I don't think so, so what's the point of talking about creating mochips if we don't even know how to make them work... It's obvious modchip creaters should work on the software side and crack that bios and then create chips to test it!

TBH, if I could get the 360 to do everything XBMC does on a chipped original XBox, I could live without the ability to play "backups" if it meant risking my Live account.

I agree at first I really didnt like the xbox for that matter I really didnt play consoles at all then someone showed me Halo. We always scrambled to find 4 xboxs and 4 copies of the game to play systemlink and if the same ol' people didnt come over then you had to find more copies of the game and more xboxs. So I started modding simply to save money b/c it makes no sense for every system on a systemlink to own a copy of the game (to me). This goes back to M$ wanting you to own a copy of XP for every system you have.

I will admit I have a ton of games on my xbox that I didnt pay for, however I hardly ever play them at all and if the chips for the original xbox didnt allow playing backups I really doubt it would bother me. This is because after playing XBL enough with other people, just playing alone doesnt cut it (of course I am a huge FPS fan). Honestly if the 360 would stream divx, xvid, quicktime, etc..... downloaded content & run homebrew software and the community would embrace the 360 like they did the first xbox and write all these wounderful programs for it I wouldnt care to play backups. Just my 2 cents.

SWEEEEET...I'd love it if this were to happen soon. The worst case is that Spong states that they'll have something soon and they don't. But the prospect of them possibly coming out with something may have other manufacturer's worried enough to step up their efforts and possibly come out with a product faster.

The thing is....its just a statement without any proof. Anybody can say that.....because we all know that a modchip will be out sooner or later. They have given a timeframe....."in a couple of weeks"....I can say that too. And when time passes and there is no modchip, then I can say that it has been backed up until another "couple of weeks" due to beta testing, trying to reduce the wire count etc...etc...

I presume that Spong just wanted to be the first to break the news of a "modchip for the Xbox360". Spong just increased their hits to their website by posting such news and increased their "popularity".

Here's a tip for people..... don't believe anything until this site Xbox-Scene has proven that a working modchip is out.

a modchip will eventually surface..

It's a method that has been discovered to use a normal PC DVD drive to dump the contents of the 360 discs onto the PC.... the same as the PI releases. Swaping a full DL DVD with the 360 game disc.
