Spong: First Xbox 360 Modchip 'Within Weeks' ?

What a silly "news" posting which is merely propaganda for the site to garner hits (as someone said earlier)... I'm surprised this kind of BS can make it to the front page of the site.

I predict a fully working Xbox mod chips within 3 months and have absolutely no technical data to back my predictions up.

Can I be on the front of the site now?

I think hacking the x360 isnt that hard as some of you think, sure there is no way the bios get hacked soon. but dont forget the PS2 modchips which work differently, they fake signals instead of booting a complete bios, there is no way x360 get hacked by a modchip with a bootloader/bios on it, dont forget the unique key per xbox, which was designed to stop mass bios hacks like xbox1, but chips which fake signals to/from the kernel are much easier to make, but you will get 30 wire modchips, and I think that is not bad at all, since we lose most of the softhack and nosolder noobs  wink.gif

So, is the Xbox 360's DVD communication encrypted? If not, it would make sense to just reverse engineer whatever tells the 360 that the DVD is retail.

oh yes you can get modchips off ebay
play game backups by pushing the power button on a controller a certain way
the one wire mod works
and my **** is 2 feet long

(heavy sarcasm used except for that last one rotfl.gif)

there is no modchip at this time
however i do expect one by spring in time for the launch of the ps3

the only documented proven mods are all cosmetic

usb hdd
led swap on ring of light
12v fan mod
side window
halo 2 headset
etc....

many people ask for pictures and video as well but be cautious
someone on another site said he made a x360 chip
but what he did was hide a original xbox out of frame and had that hooked up to the tv
i recognised the x3 bootup and the fact the x360 was not on or had any cables comeing out the back
and there is something called photoshop and some are very skilled with it

we who know Spong for what they really are have grown just about sick of them trying to get hits out of us can we get a vote up to ban them from the front page of X-S for good if this new prediction that comes from a long string of bullshit predictions does not come true?

There are things we don't know about! Do you think the hackers will post all their discoveries right here? Don't forget MS is watching!

We will see when it happens, and when it happens you can expect information about it. when they hacked the Xbox 360, MS will try to make a new version to prevent hacking, but when the first hack becomes avaiable, the hackers will find easier ways to crack the newer machines.....

I think alot of people are missing the point of MS's X360 security. What MS wants to ensure is that the 360 is so difficult to mod, that only dedicated hackers will attempt it. MS could care less whether a few thousand technically advanced hackers can mod their 360's, they just want it to be too hard(or risky) for the millions of average Joe Xbox360 owners to attempt.
Say a 30+ wire modchip is the best the modchip developers can come up with. MS would still consider it's security to be a success, because a wired modchip is not something that the average 360 owner would attempt(or be technically able) to install.

HAHA Each time i see that video my I laugh my ass off laugh.gif . It's sooooooooooooooo fake!

That video has only 2 good qualities about it. The music and the ending.

How funny would this be... The only way you'd be able to hack the 360 is with a PSP! ph34r.gif

Come the 28th this kid is gonna be more hated/loved then the star wars kid!

Curiously though MS seems awefully calm about the whole mod chip rumor.  Do you think there are some hidden functions that allow MS to track down those that have them installed?  Are they waiting for a few hundred "poster-gamers" to mod their xbox 360 and then sue them?

I know I won't be the first to mod my xbox 360 ... I think I'll wait and see how the story plays out first.

Yea - boot with a Mod chip and 10 minutes later, a strike team drops from a black helicopter and you are never heard from again.

It's MS, not the RIAA.

I couldn't care less whether the rumor is even remotely true.  I do wish all the pirating, thieving idiots would stop referring to them as "backups".  You know damn well you're not running backups.  If there was a mod allowing homebrew development while eliminating the ability to pirate games (a bogus pipe dream, of course), it'd be great for the scene - except of course that game piracy creates far more attention than academics and thus more hackers.  I hope 40+ wire modchips are eventually released, but I'm truly rooting against anything easier than that.  I'm just thankful for my happy dev kit.

I also feel that MS could've seriously decreased the demand for mod chips by building halfway decent media abilities in the 360, which I've found to be almost completely useless.

No HD upconverting DVD playback? wtf
No support for non-MS video codecs? wtf? I might've even picked up a copy of MCE had this been supported.

If those two features came standard, mod-chips would lose much of their value.

Die, pirates.

If nobody had to do more work than others, to get money and there was no poor people on our planet, there would be no pirates... So before that time, pirates will always exist.
