Problem Reset Glitch Hack On Falcon
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:55:00 PM »

That seems on par for the RGH mod but if you search the site there is a mod to shorten boot times which involves just lengthening one wire between the mobo and the glitch chip.

I hacked my xbox360 falcon with RGH and I installed glitch image 13604 and I did exactly like tutorial said

but the problem is :  when I turn on console it normaly boot up and working great, when i turn it off and when i want to turn it up for a second time it only shows green light and it wont boot up ( its just a black screen)
After i tried to turn it on for secon time ( and it doesnt work ) i turn  off  and unplug my psu and wait cca 1 min and then plug it back in the console works normali ( boot and everithying )
this is happaning constantly to me
what seems to be the problem? ( did I done something wrong, or is this normal or what ) help smile.gif

Depending on the jed file thats flashed and what chip you're using boot times can be anywhere from 5 seconds to 3 minutes on a falcon. You can double check your wiring but if its working at all that generally means you're good. The longer wires really only apply to the slim systems as the signal being sent to them is much faster than to the phat systems.

sounds like an install issue, or a problem with your chip. What chip did you use to install?

I've been having great success with Matrix Glitcher in FAT mode, 1.1 JED flashed with impact, with 30AWG wire installs as short as possible. GND runs OVER chip to the video shielding prong.
Exception B and F cut to EXACTLY 23CM. These are perfect length to run to points on the bottom side of board via the hole by the southbridge. Route B wire between X-Clamps and UNDER the clamp arm to the POST output. Yes its a total pain to do, use tweezers and flux helps - bend the wire a bit to hit the point. similar to NAND-X install diagram.

Also remember soldering techniques, it helps with high frequencies to not have cold or pitted solder joints. Use shocking sponge and rosin flux.. and tin and trim the wires to a proper length. Tin/flux MB points before soldering. 95% prep....

I have yet to see them take more than 20 seconds to boot, no freezing or locking up issues yet.
The chip will be affected by cutting the power to it as the caps will lose charge and that would affect the reset's accuracy.
You should wait 15 sec minimum before trying to power back up from power-off. Allow up to 3 min to boot.
Put the 360 on its own power bar and flip that switch when you are done playing. Flip it back on and it should boot every time smile.gif

Hi do you have pics of your install you can post ?

Hey,

I have the same problem I guess. Only for me its more creating problem on "cold start" biggrin.gif

At first worked nicely, later started not to go further then turn on.
After 3rd on off time it turns on as should.

Maybe it`s chips problem? what chip do you have? I have http://www.x360glitch.com/ one.

Resoldered points couple of times, different wire lengths not helping either.

Maybe have to reprogram the chip, but no time and will to do it, at least this week.

try soldering a 680pf cap between cpu reset and ground on your chip it made my jasper go from 2 minute boot times to booting in under 10 seconds every time. it is so fast when i boot xell reloaded it loads before the dvd tray can even fully extend. hope it helps

Tried that, does not give any better results, dont know what else to try.

Only this try got me to more consistent boot times (Martin C from xecuter forum):

You need 2 x 680pF ceramic capacitors. Voltage is irrelevant but fit reference I used 50V caps.

Put one between CPU_PLL_BYPASS (A) and GND.

For the other, solder one leg to CPU_RST (point D on the coolrunner) and on the other leg, solder the wire from CPU_RST on the board.

So no really consistent solution, let me know what is good to try for 16M Falcon.
All boots are around 8 seconds, with final mod sometimes some take up to 20 seconds.

One thing I noticed is that booting from media center remote is better then from xbox controller  uhh.gif

I guess one thing to try is to reprogram cpld, but dont want to do it as it could take to long, usually these kind of things would not take to long, but for me usually it needs some special solution what take more time  biggrin.gif

CPU_PLL_BYPASS wire length is around 32cm, CPU_RST maybe around 20cm, tried different lengths didn`t seem to give any better results.

What do you think about this?  dry.gif

I had same problem as you with x360glitch cold boot.  it works properly now though, I dont know the cause but i suspect the board itself has poor soldering.  i resoldered all my wires and didnt help then i use different wire and reheat all the joints on the glitch board and now always boots cold or not in max 10secs. i followed tx coolrunner wiring routes.  for me falcon and x360glitch has awesome boot times with no added caps

Ok, I think the x360glitch is dead now  biggrin.gif
Tried everything and possible too much.

Good that I got Coolrunner, now works like should.

Making correct lpt cable was a trouble, but in the end I managed.

Will get xillinx lpt cable next week, then I can try to program the old x360glitch chip.

Thanks!
