There no limitations or differences only xenon doesn't work, and its not realy easy to get the hack working.
Boot times on the old jtag's are faster.

I'm also looking for some clarification on what can be done with the glitch hack - I'm debating buying a coolrunner from team xecuter, but I want to make sure that this does what I'm hoping it does.

I'm not a noob, per-se, but I've been neck deep in the DVD fw modding for a few years now. Thus, I haven't really followed JTAG functionality very closely, and I came a little late to the game on the glitch hack, so most of the noobs have had their questions answered in posts buried deep within forums that I really don't feel like spending an hour digging up. . .(yeah, I'm lazy - sorry. And f-you to the person who digs up a response and posts a link and tells me it took them 30 seconds)

My primary questions:

- Is it xbox live safe (yes, I understand that "safe" is relative and we're all doomed to be banned eventually - what's the exposure level compared to a DVD drive with the latest modded firmware)?
- Can it run backups from a hard drive? (built in? external USB?)
- Will I still need a DVD drive with modded firmware to run backups?
- What does the homebrew community bring to xbox 360 that's compelling?
- What's the compatibility with AP25/26, XGD3 backups?

I'm also a little in the dark about what components I'll have to purchase to get this setup up and running - I already have a CK3 Pro and a 360USB Pro under my belt - what else am I going to need?

Yes. Both.

As far as I can tell, I'm going to need a coolrunner and nand-x qsb for each system I mod. Externally, I'll need a CK3i (ideally - it seems that other versions of ck3 will work), a Nand-X programmer thingy and a couple of special cables (LPT JTAG cable, CK3 to Coolrunner cable).

Can anyone verify I got this right? Also, does anyone know yet if any of these components will be sold bundled together?

Well, Iam in a same boat as the OP.. Been out of scene for a long time now.. I had the exact same queries that the OP had.. It would be better if some experts enlighten us..

Can it be done to all machines irrespective of their dash?? I am asking this b'coz iam currently on v2.0.12611.0 dash.. And i am exausted burning games to DVD

If its still possible for me to use RGH hack to my machine, what/how should i do?? Please guide me.

Hey All,

Like others, I'm the same. Upgraded drive to iXtreme, xbox has been collecting dust for a year because I'm tired of burning dvd's, and now I'm here.

From what I've read....and things are constantly changing, the glitch on xbox isn't perfected yet. It could take a minute + for it to boot, if it even does. Cold boots seem to boot faster, for some reason.

For what you can do with it, and from what I've read, is not much. You can boot xell, but there's no dash or freeboot for it yet, so in my eyes, I can't do much with it other than install linux.

I'd be interested to hear where moonphrogg saw they were able to play backups from the HD using the glitch. Again, my info might be wrong. I'd be interested in it, and I'd like to see where he got the info.

Bottom line: All this stuff is brand new, so I believe one day you will be able to load up freeboot (or something like that) and life will be good. But for now, I don't have the knowledge (or time) to compile and install it, so I will wait for somebody else to perfect it first. I appreciate the OP asking because I'm curious about it, but I don't want to flood the thread about the glitch since smarter people are trying to perfect it.

I'm a long time dvd fw modder, and i would also like to know the answer to these questions. Could someone please share their expertise, and just list basic info about RGH? The updates are so numerous, it's hard for us noobs to figure out which equipment is best, what features the RGH is capable of, etc.... Someone please give us the lowdown.
