Assistance Identifying Jtag And Reflashing Nand

This is the JTAG method used, and yours looks fine. Did you select the AUD_CLAMP SMC patch when building your image - I'm not sure that Bestpig has an option for that, but I can't check at the moment.

As for fixing it, if you can't boot Xellous then I suspect you'll need to reflash the NAND directly using a NAND flasher, which will require some soldering.

I have been doing some research and found the Xecuter NAND-X kit.  Any thoughts?  Can I repair the unit using that tool?  This tool also appears to have an added bonus of being able to leave the connections in place and easily connect your 360 without the need to re-solder.  I am assuming moving forward I will need to use a tool like this because of the bad blocks on my system.

You will need some kind of nand reader/writer and the nand-x works well, you need to build an image that has the aud_clamp smc patch selected as that is the jtag wiring method your console has. Once you read the nand a few times and get consistent reads and build the correct freeboot image and then flash it back to your console it will boot to the dash correctly.

If you were able to boot into xell/xellous then it would have been possible to update without any soldering but since you borked it, thats not now possible.

The Jtag method used on your 360 is the CURRENT method, believe it or not.  It's the most reliable in my opinion.  Though I do question the quality of the solder job on the top black component (transistor) in the 2nd picture; the pin going down into the board.  Looks like it needs more solder.  Fix that first.

Then you should do a search on this site or google about how to move bad blocks...lots of methods out there; just google it and use the method that's most comfortable to you.

I would go with a USB SPI flasher, which is half the price of Nand X.  But it involves 7 wires to solder whereas Nand X gives you mini-boards to solder, which is easier.  Either way, you're only gonna use them once and then you can do future updates within the 360 itself.  So upto you which method you're comfortable with.

Then of course use Jtag tool to take care of the rest.
