Bad Blocks Remapping Help!
« on: August 26, 2011, 10:26:00 AM »

Ok i managed to get XBReebot working by remapping with Badblockmover.exe

Worked perfectly and i booted up and got my CPU key..

Used this in Coolshrimps jtag tool, remapped as per tutorial and again nothing, just black screen!

These are the commands i'm using to remap freeboot before flashing to my nand:

nandpro freeboot.bin: -r16 01e.bin 01e 1
nandpro freeboot.bin: -r16 12e.bin 12e 1

nandpro freeboot.bin: -w16 01e.bin 3FF 1
nandpro freeboot.bin: -w16 12e.bin 3FE 1

Black screen one solid green light in the middle amd dvd rom spining up.

Any thoughts what i'm doing wrong i'm 99% it's the remapping

Also even though degraded ect shows block 12e as bad i can actually write to this block, i get no error while writing freeboot, only block 1e..

i have a similar issue with my JTAG which i am stuck on, have working 9199FB and 12611FB but when i make any other kernal image with blocks remapped correctly also it does same thing.

flash back to 9199FB or 12611FB works perfectly. doing my head in. think its to do with the crl.bin being corrupted/incorrect. cant figure it out TBH.

are you using a donor image or original files?

how are you writing to console? LPT or USB?

Using original nand dump had 6 identical dumps just in case wink.gif
using the Nand-x usb controller for reading and writing.
I use the jtag tool to write the xbr image that works ok.

It's really frustrating! i have used badblockmover.exe to repair xbr and it boots up perfectly, i can get my key and boot into the dash.

But obvioulsy i want freeboot running, i have tried so many different combinations so far.

One thing i wasn't doing was repairing my original nand dump, not sure if i need to? but i read bad blocks from 3FF and 3FE and the wrote them back to 01e and 12e to there correct place.
then i created the freeboot image using cool shrimps tool, remapped the bad blocks from 1e and 12e back to 3ff and 3fe... Nothing solid green middle light.

I'm running out of ideas here!
