Boxxdr Falcon Jtag E79
« on: July 28, 2011, 12:12:00 PM »

I have installed my usb nandx reader and read my nand a few times, all matching, exploitable CB. Dash 7371. Falcon board. Xbox is exploitable.

Installed the jtag transistors/resistors and the two wires as per the boxxdr method and all my wiring is sound. I have checked it and rechecked it all for continuity after having to re-solder one of the resistor contacts to get rid of 3 flashing lights.

I have flashed a 50 block xell file with my kv injected into it like it told me to do in the tut I have been following however every time i try to boot I get E79. I have been doing this for hours to no avail and have no idea what to do.

Have searched all over but I can't find anyone with the same problem. Please help me =(

EDIT: Here is tut I been following https://docs.google....mv5h_30dw33vpf4

Is the Xell copy you are using configured to use aud_clamp wiring?

I will give the pre-built one a shot now But I don't know how to use the 12kb smc file. What am I supposed to do with it? All this command line stuff is confusing.

Also what's the best way to test my jtag wiring? I have tested contacts for continuity multiple times and it all reads fine. Is there any spot I can test for some type of reading that will indicate whether or not everything is going as it should?

I have tested continuity on the little pads that I have soldered the components onto and they all are good for continuity. Also my alternate point is def good as I have tested it's continuity from the other alternate point through the wire. Also should i be focusing on soldering the components to the pads on the top of the board or the solder on the bottom once I have passed then through? As it is harder to test on the pads on the boards top I have done about half of the testing on the underside pads.

The one thing I really don't know how to test is the aud_clamp. There is no pad I can test it on because the wire is definately encased inside the little solder ball that solders the clamp to the mobo.

Other thing is i'm wondering how easily it is to damage the transistors with heat? The resistors are reading correctly at 10k but how can I teste the transistors withoug desoldering them?

I don't know what else could be causing this, so damned annoying. Really appreciate the help though

EDIT: Just scraped a trace leading of AUD and continuity to transistor leg I have.
Also this is happening with no HDD, LAN cable or MU connected. Should I try connecting them or will it not make a difference for boot as i have been assuming?

Yeah, I did what you said with the db1f1 or whatever point it is called and i also tested continuity for the aud by scraping the trace leading off it and testing from transistor lead to the scraped trace.

Should I try to scrape traces off every solder connection I have done and test for continuity? Is that what you meant when you said prior to where it was soldered?

No luck with the prebuilt image and my kv. Although now when I dump my kv it doesn't match with the ones I dumped from the box at the very start but they match each other. When I compare my orig sets of kv with the new ones the console print heaps of weird lines like 00000041ff : 00 FF but the orig match with the orig and the new ones match with the new ones. Just tried the image with my new kv i'm getting but no luck.

I read somewhere that falcons could take the zephyr image and work is this true? Cause I could give the zephyr one a try maybe? I am 100% positive that my two jtag wires and soldered correctly. However i'm not so sure about my resistors/transistors. They show continuity but I have doubt that they may be touching the solder balls rather than the actual mobo. But I don't know how to test prior to the connection since the only thing that leads off them is the traces.

I apologise for not understanding.

EDIT: I scraped traces leading off every solder joint and everything checks out for continuity.

Flashed back original nand and xbox boots into nxe fine. Am now reading original kv's.

I tried changing aud clamp to ROL point and skipped the patching smc step to see if that would fix the problem but still E79.

Running out of ideas here. =(

Oh I see what you mean by prior now. But yeah, was testing prior to the connections all along.

Got it booting into Xellous and have taken a picture of my CPU key. I had to change from using aud_clamp and db1f1 to aud_clamp and dvd_tray. Now i'm onto creating freeboot image.

I did try the zephyr versions of xell as I saw some guy say that some falcons took zephyrs. Maybe he was confused? Didn't work for me regardless.

Wish me luck =) i'll keep you posted

EDIT: I can't figure out how to get a full nand dump without using http: through xellous (as i dont have a router and cant figure out how to do it connected straight to laptop)

So you just need to create the freeBOOT image now. is this correct ? Did you do a full read?

Yeah but it was bringing up errors when i tried to run it though bestpig. I've got my xbox booting into 9199 now as I just used jtag tool instead. Thank you so much for all your help, greatly appreciated.

Now for the tedius task of formatting my HDD and getting all the right files off xbins, which is super hard to do since i'm running through university network  mad.gif

That`s Fantastic News mate!............Well Done!!!   biggrin.gif

You should really create a updated freeBOOT image incorporating the latest Dashboard revision via Easy-Freeboot-v5.32 (Google) at some point in the near future.

Again well done mate! and enjoy your new Jtag........ jester.gif
