Noob Modded Drive / Uncripple Help

I got a rrod 360 fixed. The guy who did it said it was modded. I know noting about modding but good with soldering and with boards. Gave me a copy of reach i played online for about a month. Anyways i wanted to update to LT+ for the 2.5 games. I opened it and there is no hardware mod like listed on how to flash a drive ( or that i could find with software ). The 360 is now crippled , not banned, after i stupidly tried to play need for speed and updated. I wanted t know if there is anyway of finding everything out to update and / or uncripple it. Thanks in advance.
