Jtag Updating
« on: November 24, 2010, 03:34:00 PM »

Hello, Thanks for taking time to read this post.
Okay, I have a Jtag with 9199 Dashboard, It had 8955 when I got it, and It came with a Samsung DVD Drive. I had it since May and had no problems. Now the AP25 came out and I want to play Hot Pursuit. I spoofed the Samsung with a BenQ before I knew about the AP25 Checks.  My Xbox read and copied hot Pursuit fine to the Harddrive, I used NXE2GOD and it worked fine, but when i try to launch the game, it want me to update the xbox. I know its the new kinect dash, but i hate the new dash. I have it on my Xbox and i just hate the style of it.
I read I have to update no matter what, but that was for a regular DVD firmware mod, I'm wondering, do i have to update my jtag?
If, I do have to update my Jtag, Can i go back to the 9199 dash after?
Since I wasn't the one who JTAG the xbox, can I update fine like I did with 9199 dash? Or do I have to do the freeboot image?
Is it possible to flash the Xbox NAND like the xbox1 flashing process? I dont have the tools to read the nand, and I'm not using LTP reader since its so slow.
Random Question-For the Dashboards, is it like the xbox1 and i can have whatever custom dash i pick boot up, or does the MS dash have to load first?
So in other words, I just want to know can i play without updating, and I don't feel like using the wave patcher, but if its the only way i will. I don't want to use because I don't want to patch every AP25 game.
Thats all for now, and if I got anything else to ask I will.
BTW-Since the BenQ wasn't originally there, can I put LT+? I know you can without spoofing by manually spoofing the key, but is it better to keep it as a Samsung?
-Radom Question: If i have an xbox that has the 7371 update, but the CB was updated by MS, can I get the DVD Key? Since thats all I need.

Yes you can update a jtag and return back to any dash. The efuses are simulated so you can put on any dash you want.

Not sure what you mean by "can I update fine like i did with 9199 dash", but yes you can update. You will need to make a freeboot image.

Use the flash360 tool for updating the nand.

Use xbox image explorer to extract the iso files to a usb hard drive. Rename the "$systemupdate" folder to "Renamed$systemupdate" folder then see it it launches.

Hey thanks, sorry about that, the questions were spaced, but when i posted them they changed format. And by the 9199 dash i mean, i just updated using the official ms dash, no special image or nothing, just went to xbox.com, download on to a use and installed it.
The games are already on my HD so im going to rename it an see what happens.

You updated a jtag box from 8955 to 9199 using the MS update? Then you should not have any jtag exploit anymore and the efuses should be burnt. Do you have a jtag box or just a box with the DVD firmware modified? Something is wrong with this picture. You should not update to a new dash version using MS update on a jtag'd box. You only use the MS update after freeboot is installed to add avatar support.

Yeah, that what i mean, it was already jtag with 8955 with the Efuse resistor removed. It had no avatars so i just updated like i normally would and it went thou fine. I still can run everything fine such as  xexmenu, nxe2god.
