not sure which firmware i have, i think it maybe 1.6, but it was flashed around last summer approx... not sure, was done by a guy i know..

my problem is i have got call of duty to work, not tried assasins creed or fable 3, but cannot for the life of me get need for speed hot pursuit to work...

and i am DYING to play this game.. can someone help/../.

is there a quick way around this, some say on youtube that there is a patch, when you click on link to dload the patch,it takes you to a questionaire which must be filled to give you the dload, this also asks for your name and address which instantly put me off so didnt dload it....

From the tray could only be either a benQ or a Lite-ON.
To know exactly which one, you need to remove the faceplace. if you see two white wires, then you got a benQ, if you see two yellow wires, it's a lite-ON

If it was flashed last summer, I suppose they flashed with the last fw, which is LT. To know more, you should tell me which waves you can play, and if you patch or use an activate disc.

If you already updated the dash, I'm afraid this exploit cant work for you. It's too late...
You really should wait for LT+. But dont worry, it's almost out!

PS STAY AWAY from those sites with strange patched where you're asked for passwords or survays. They are big fat fake, and you may end up infecting your PC.

Mmmmm, cant really tell from that photo. Maybe post the manufacturing date and batch number. You'll find that on the back of you console.

I got a Jasper lite-ON, superelite with 250gb HD, MW2 limited edition bought on december 2009. LT fw. Not banned nor flagged.
Worked for me without a single problem. And Xval still clean after it.

It was a good idea to post this on a properly titled thread, but it is already one of the hot topics on the front page of the "Technical DVD-ROM and Modified DVD Firmware" catagory. I'm supprised so many people don't know about it.

Actually it's not the same thing. The difference it's not just in the proper title, but in the fact that over there they TALK about some mixing and matching updates that resulted into a AP2.5 bypass. Here it's a step by step guide with the exact updates provided each with a link, which gives a synthax to the random trial and error.
No wonder why people couldnt sort it out in the other thread. Also.... the title was self explanatory: "No idea why?!?"

so far iv played almost all games out so far, call of duty black ops / vanquish being the last
i never quite on with the activation disc, i use ppf-o-matic to patch the game and it works..

DAMNIT!!!!!! i wish i knew all this before updating, i never would have if i had known...

thanks for the heads up on the dodgy patching claimed methods...

so there is no patches or anything like that out that will bypass the ap2.5 bloody thing?!

the LT+, do you know if it is fairly easy to do it, i have no one local to me (berkshire) who does it at a decent price, do i need to be an engineer/hav to buy tools etc to do it? as i am a pure noob!! the guy that flashed my console - in all honesty i do not trust and charges like £40-£50 to do it..

This is not correct with the new dashboard. With the kinect dashboard, if you are flagged, your box is instantly crippled even if you are offline. The ban feature is now part of the the dashboard.

Getting flagged offline = Corrupt profile/saves

2ndly wannted to ask i havent got the lt for my benq ac brotherhood appears as play dvd how can i overcome this without updat the fw, fable 3 works so its only the new wves 8-9 as i can see... would the activate disc work?

I'm afraid that's not correct. I know many friends who got AP2.5 flagged at the Fable 3 time, and none had any problem with corruption.
If you actually know first person someone who did get corrupted files, then it might happen to some, but not to all.

If you do need to patch, then you probably have the 1.6. Which is not a good job considering that when you modded you console LT had been out for a while.
The new LT+ which should be out probabily today (but actually not very useful yet as there are not yet the needed AP2.5-SS necessary to play the games), but I really recommend you have someone doint it for you, as it's quite complicate on a Lite-ON for a newby. And £40/50 for your last non-updated mod was a gunpoint robbery.

Activate disc work if you got an iXtreme 1.6
Otherwise you need a wave patcher and patch them to wave 3.
