Any hard drive can be used.  They don't identify the manufacturer so it may or may not be lockable for Live and regular MS dash.  Also you will be limited to 137GB of space since the Xbox doesn't recognize drives larger than this limit (this is why everyone uses a 120GB drive).  Also the native bus speed of the box limits the drive to ATA33 so you won't get ATA133 speeds or see the real efficiency from a 7200 over a 5400RPM drive except in seek times.  The 8MB buffer will matter less with this configuration.

Since the drive is $100 (after rebates - keep in mind) and an unknown quantity for locking - I'd find something else or put it in your desktop system - which it would probably be great for.  I like to search techbargains.com for deals.
