E79 After 12611 Dash Update

No, this is not a efuse error. But you should have them protected!!!

1) your wiring sucks and decided to fall off.
2) You used the shitty diode method and one of your diodes died.
3) you programmed the smc wrong and the bad programming does not take effect untill you shut the box down for a long time or unplug it for 30 seconds.

So do you have original wiring or aud_clamp or something else?

Here is how i suggest everyone does thier jtag wiring.

I have the same problem, and I cannot find any solution.

1) If I write back the 9199 nand image, it works fine, so i don't think that it's a wiring problem.

2) I don't use the diode method either. I have the transistors with the aud_clamp.

3) I don't how to program the SMC, but the problem occurs as syntaxerror329 said. Everything works fine until i unplug the xbox. Then, when i plug in back again, i get the e79.

I tried building the image with fbbuilder 0.1, Script-de-Gab76, freeBOOT_ToolBox_Maker2.6 and it was all the same.

I have the r6t3 but used the alternative.

Someone have any idea?

Thanks in advance

PS: Sorry for my english

A little explaination on the SMC.

The SMC instructions are loaded into the southbridge whenever the console has been completely shut off/unplugged. That is why you will see on many tutorials that after you program the jtag hack into the nand you must unplug it.

So what i think is happening to you guys is that you are using a smc.bin that does not match the wiring you are using. As long as you don't unplug it the console keeps working because the old smc info is still in the southbridge. As soon as you unplug it reprograms that bad southbridge info and then e79 happens.

So here is what you guys should be doing.

I use Bestpigs tool. Make a custom FreeBOOT and go into the data directory...

Better yet read this post and see if it helps.

TMS use option 3 and TDI use option 2

Ok I replaced the diodes with the resistors/transistors hack, but unfortunately i still get an E79 error. I tried original wiring and aud_clamp wiring and created each 12611 update hack for each wiring but still i get an E79 error. sad.gif

Any other ideas? Thanks

Are you still able to get 9199 working if you patch the SMC? If that doesn't work, then you know it is bad soldering or you are not patching the SMC file correctly. What program are you using to generate the freeboot image? Did you remember to trim the excess off the transistors legs to prevent shorting? It may sound dump, but I almost forgot to do that once.

Things to do:
1. Make sure the wires are going through the board and solder on both the underside and top to ensure a good joint.
2. Use a voltage meter to check continuity of your wiring.
3. Send us photo close ups of your solder points so we can inspect them.

I have a zephyr elite that had the annoying E79 errors and the constant reset issue.  I used  the 12611 Easy freeboot, selected the Aud_clamp option and used the transistors wiring and it works great. One thing i noticed is i had to write the updflash via USB nand wiring and not from a usbflash drive
