The Kinect seems to require an additional update to work.

I have the new Kinect dash installed on my JTAG through the freeboot method.

My DVD Drive is a Spoofed Samsung and won't read the included disc that came with the Kinect.

Assuming it is a system update required - is there a safe download of the system update to install to make the JTAG work that I can put on a USB stick?

Is there anything else required to get the kinect working on a JTAG console?

UPDATE your jtag to a new freeboot.

then do a system update.

nucci, since you already are running freeBOOT 0.04, you can download the official 12611 update from here to get Kinect support and the new avatars. Unzip the folder inside to the root of a USB drive, plug it in to your 360, and power it up. That's about it.

I have updated to the new kinect dash: 12611 with the new freeboot already.

My dvd drive does not read the "Kinect Adventures" disc that came with the Kinect as I have a spoofed Samsung drive installed which I believe has compatibility issues with the new dash.

Is there a newer update beyond 12611 that I need?

If not, and I just need a system update, is there a way to extract it from the Kinect Adventures disc or another game disc or download it from M$ and put it on a usb stick?

You don't get it; you may have flashed your NAND to 12611, but you still don't have the update files for Kinect. That's what the file I linked you to is for. It's an official update, but since you are running fB 0.04 it won't screw anything up. You need to download that update .zip file and let the 360 install it before you can use Kinect.

Just ran the update and it now seems to recognize the kinect! I'm just hoping it didn't do anything to the jtag. lol.. I'll configure it tomorrow as I assume it might be a little involved and I gotta get to bed.

Hi can you help me confirm that i have freeboot.0.04 ? I already flashed my NAND to 12611 and XEX menu still works, and it seem si have kinect dash without any avatars. I just don't know if i can safely run the official update without ruining my jtag. Please help!

yes your jtag will still work.just run the update that pops up with kinect
