God Packages Suddenly Not Working With Freeboot 0.04
« on: November 15, 2010, 08:41:00 PM »

Very recently I decided to flash to the latest freeBOOT with the new dashboard, and during the process I decided to fix my Zephyr's random E79 problems by patching the SMC and resoldering the JTAG wiring to AUD_CLAMP. Despite some minor setbacks (one of which was using the wrong smc.bin while making the updflash.bin, easily rectified), everything went smoothly. I certainly don't get E79 errors anymore, which is great, and I even installed the official update after making sure fB 0.04 was properly flashed. Here's where things gets strange, however.

None of the installed 360 games on Hdd1:\ work through the Microsoft dashboard, i.e. Games on Demand packages. No matter how the 360 games are installed now--either through Iso2GoD, or ripping a retail disc in the dash and using NXE2GoD to convert it--I get thrown back to the dash with an error claiming, "The game could not be started." XBLA content works fine, as do QuickBoot shortcuts to ripped 360 games in my \Games\ folder, and even original Xbox games converted using Iso2GoD run just fine. Oddly enough, the GoD packages do run perfectly fine in Freestyle Dash, but I'm not very partial to using that application. Also, there was one particular instance where I installed a retail disc and ran NXE2GoD; it only ran once without the disc, then went back to spitting out the same error from before.

Does anybody have any ideas or thoughts as to what may be causing this? It's more of an inconvenience than anything, since I can still play the games without needing my discs all the time... But it's still pretty strange.

Didnt fully read the post, real tired, but I think what your sayin is what happened to me when I installed dash launch. My games will load fine but if I dashboard and try load a game again I get the error. Well I changed the auto load options on the xbox to dashboard, as it was set on disc for some reason and was clashing with dashlaunch... So I think.

My issues:

1. Games in iso2god folders all ran fine with 9199, but none work with 12611.  I get a variety of errors, mostly unreadable discs.  Even older games won't run.  Heck, I could play Fable 3 in a GOD folder with 9199, but not with the new dash.  Weird.

2. Title updates.  I'm trying to play Red Dead Undead, but I get a "missing title update" error message.  I know the cache folder isn't used anymore, and I've tried to put TUs in the game folder (and other places) with no luck.

I'm ready to go back to my old dash...

Update: both my Zephyr and my friend's Falcon sporadically fix this problem on their own, usually after transferring games/files to the HDD via XexMenu. Right now, all of my GoD packages are working fine, but his are still giving him the "Game couldn't start" bullshit. Does anybody have any of their own observations to share regarding this?

I'm new to the whole JTAG situation and just modified my xbox over the weekend.  I used freeboot with 9199 and loaded games onto a bigger drive with iso2god.

I get the same error after I play a game, once I go back to the dashboard (by hitting the center "X" button) and try to launch another game.  It works fine if I fully shutdown the console and boot it back up, but I need to do this each time after playing a game.

I created a thread about it: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=724846

Is this the same behavior you see?  I'd like to find a fix because it is a bit annoying, but overall it still works...

Been having a very similar problem. A multitude of problems, but on of these is similar. 360 was on 9199, no problems. Went funny, reflashed it with the new freeBoot. Didn't work. Reflashed it with my previously working 9199. No go. Only XBR will work, BUT it won't play any of my GOD titles. Hell it won't even boot ripped games via the default.xex. Hmmmm...

Then again my machine is having variety of issues, I just find this one funny in particular as it will still boot Freestyle, homebrew, etc. Just not anything besides that..

The problem I was having with the "Game could not start" errors was because I had the Xexmenu in the drive.  I took it out and the errors stopped... Not sure if this is the same problem you are having, but I figured it might be worth a shot!
