Struggling With Jasper E79
« on: September 22, 2010, 06:23:00 PM »

I guess I am looking for help on those of you who have jtag'd a jasper and which method/component is the most successful repeatable.

I just reflashed the 7371 image back to nand and it boots and works perfectly.  so clearly something is wrong with the jtag/xbr loading process.  I should probably mention that I am using nandprod to read/write but nandpro20b to read/write kv.  getting can't read file problems with nandprod.

Any thoughts would be appreciated :-)

i had the same problem
i tried to get a jasper to boot without e79 for a week tried all methods possible
even scred up some resistors on he mobo by accident
but i rplaced them without a problem from a spare board
eventully afte resolderin the diodes like 30 times it worked
so i dont have real answer for you
just keep trying
by the way i have managed to jtag about 20 consoles up to today so the problem was with the board

When I downloaded all of the xbr motherboard zips (xenon, falcon, jasper etc.) I noticed there was two different zips for the japser 16mb. one that was regularly named and another that had "a" at the end of the name. So there must be two different versions. Have you tried both?

If you're patching with AUD_CLAMP, then you shouldn't be wiring to the ROL board. Show some pics of yoru soldering...and while AUD_CLAMP may prevent *some* ROL errors on Jaspers, if you flash correctly, you shouldn't have to worry about E79, that really only occurs with Zephyr systems. Typically if you get E79 on any non-Zephyr JTAG it's just bad wiring, or you flashed the wrong SMC.

guys,
Thanks for all the great feed back...I have some pics...since they are worth 1000 words.  I spent most of the weekend going through the various tutorials on SMC.  I also moved the db1f1 point to open_tray and still the same problem.

I tried a few different tuts...all use a blank XBR 16m image and use smc tool to change tms and tdi to aud_clamp and open_tray...but still no joy.

is it possible its noise on the jtag line?  has anyone tried a 100Ohm series resistor to slow the edge rate or added a decoupling cap?

Thanks again!

BTW, i reflashed it again back to 7371 and forgot to remove the diodes...and it booted fine....I guess that is another indicator that its the wiring.
