Can I Remove Wires After Jtag Flash?
« on: August 27, 2010, 01:09:00 AM »

Hey guys, it's me again.  I think I've got everything sorted out.  I've run into an issue on every single step in doing this mod, so I think I can safely say I've got the hang of it now.

As I reach the end of my mod, I have a question.  After I re-flash my system with the XBReboot, can I remove the wires I soldered in for my JTag mod?  Can I remove them all, or just the 7 I attached to my LPT port?  For instance, can I remove the jumper cable and the 2 other diode cables?

I have no desire to flash back to original nand after I finish this, so I'd just like to have it all clean in there so my DVD drive fits in nice.

I've tried looking around on google, and the closest answer I've found is "you can remove the 7 wires you soldered on earlier" but that would not be ALL the wires.

You'll have to keep the jumper wire and the two with the diodes. Its perfectly fine to remove the lpt cable though. The LPT cable is generally the only thing that'll get in the way unless you've got a lot of excess in your wire length.

like sonic said, you need to leave the jumper and diode wires in place, as they are the communication lines needed for the exploit to work.

you can remove the 7 LPT wires, but i recommend tidying them up and leaving them connected. if you ever get a bad flash and can not even get xellous to boot, the only way to recover would be re-flashing via LPT.

i leave mine connected and mount the RJ jack, with hot glue, in a hole cut through the chassis and hard drive cover. if you lay it out right, the jack sits nicely behind the hard disk. they can also tuck nicely behind the dvd drive, if you don't want to go to the trouble of mounting the jack.

i guess it comes down to whether or not you want to go to the trouble of re-doing them in case of emergency recovery.
